It's not reaching.
It's the same thing.
You just explained why the negative stigma is on overdrive. But it doesn't change the fact the the second you start doing technical shite others don't understand, because of motives that are incomprehensible to the mouth breathers, there's always someone that attempts to escalate it into something negative.
It doesn't even have to be escalated to you being a closet terrorist or Heisenberg. There is still a negative social stigma for being technically inclined while young.
And no, I wasnt a victim of something major like this, but I see the shite all the time with the new generation. From applied knowledge examples like this, to parents actively holding kids back from going "too far ahead" on something like math.

It was a digital clock the 14 year old robotics nerd built himself. That is EXACTLY what should be encouraged in schools.
I also don’t think I blame the teacher for being alarmed and letting the school leadership know about it. I just think the cops being involved when it was CLEARLY not a bomb is absolutely absurd. They knew it was not a bomb very quickly. The school wasn’t even evacuated. Just tell the kid why they were suspicious, tell his parents, send him home if you have to, etc.
Why on Earth were the cops involved? And once they were involved, why IN THE frick was he arrested and put in jail? At that point everyone knew it wasn’t a bomb and even the police admit he never claimed it was anything but a clock. There were no threats of any kind…ever. He broke no laws of any kind…ever.
And I also don’t think he should sue, but some people should lose their jobs or be suspended without pay for this. Pretty egregious violation of his rights. Also questioned without an adult present.

Cops are at best complete morons who are unqualified for their jobs here. This kid was put through the ringer for being intelligent, creative, and innovative in his spare time.
We need more kids like that in America.
