WTF does that have to do with anything? How can a person be responsible for someone else's actions?

It's almost like you have no clue what responsibility you have when serving alcohol in most states...

Seems pretty straightforward to me. She isn’t getting charged with killing someone. If lawmakers really want to curb people being oversold you have to prosecute people.

That’s a crock of shite. There is absolutely no way to know how much he drank after he left the bar. He could have had a bottle in his back seat. Or stopped and bought one. Charging her for anything is stupid as frick.

I honestly wonder how many people actually read the article. It’s a fricking misdemeanor that she’ll have to pay some court costs and attorney fees. Big whoop

Did you read the story where he brandished a handgun and knife and they STILL kept serving him?

A medical examiner later determined that Hight's blood alcohol level was four times the state's legal limit.

Who's to say he didn't go out drinking more after he left her bar?

Her own attorney? He said she pled with him to not drive. She was concerned enough about him to leave work and go to his ex-wife's house to check on her, but not enough to stop serving him.

Should it be criminal? Probably not, but she's a terrible person.

After Hight left the bar, Glass and another employee drove to Meredith Hight's nearby home out of concern that her estranged husband was headed there, Palmer said. When she spotted Spencer Hight's car outside of the home, Glass called 911. The call was made before the shooting began, he said. Detectives early on had commended Glass for her actions, he said.

If you believe the OP’s story the bartender left after Hight and went to check on them. Do you think they waited long enough to leave to where he could’ve gone to another bar and get hammered again?

Bartenders get praised for selling more drinks. I’ve seen a white dude never allowed to go to Cubs game again and a white chick going to jail for some super dumb shite. Let’s pray trump can right this shite

Misdeamnor charge of overserving.

Gotcha. I obviously didn't read anything past the subject line.

Well then it's irrelevant what happens after the overserving, right? The crime is the actual overserving? Or does something bad have to happen?

Still too lazy to read. And a licensure issue is different from a crime.

Just seems like probably selective enforcement at the very lesst, based on the severe criminal acts that really had nothing to do with the overserving.

According to the report, Hight ordered two gin and tonic at 2:39 p.m. at The Local Public House on September 10 and then left.  Hight returned at 6:38 p.m. and ordered two Miller Lite beers and a shot of lemon vodka.

quote:

In the bar surveillance video, Hight appeared to be highly intoxicated, the report said. “Hight was unsteady on his feet and staggered around the bar, running into tables and walking sideways.”
The bartender, Lindsey Glass noticed Hight had a large, fixed blade knife on the bar and was spinning it on the bar.
It is against the law to have a knife or a gun at a bar.
The report points out that’s the second violation, aside from over-serving a customer.
Glass then texted Timothy Banks,  another bartender and friend of Hight and told him Hight had a big knife on the bar and was spinning it and “Hight said he had dirty work to do.”

quote:

The report went on to say, “Banks told Glass he was going to come to the bar.  Glass then texted Banks that Hight was drunk and being weird. Hight and Glass then went to the patio area.  Hight produced a pistol from his front pocket and put it on the table.  Galss then observed Banks arrive and went to tell him about the gun.  Banks made contact with Hight and according to his statement to Plano Police, he believed something was wrong with Hight and called the bar owners.”

She served him the second beer and vodka after he pulled out the knife.

Criminal or not, she's a POS.

Maybe she is for serving him after he brandished the knife. But someone isn’t fall down drunk after two drinks, two beers, and a shot. Especially if he’s regular enough for the bartenders to know where he lives. That dude drank a couple, left, got fricked up and came back wasted. She isn’t being charged for serving him after he pulled out a knife. She’s being charged for over serving, which IMO, she didn’t. I don’t give a shite one way or the other. Dude was crazy as frick and was going to do this regardless of who did or didn’t serve him. There are people I don’t like too...but I’m not gonna have a couple drinks and cut down a whole social circle.
