I had to leave a few dorm/college parents FB groups because I couldn't get over the questions they were asking. If it wasn't the basic of basics that their kid should already know it was them wanting to go scorched earth over the most minor roommate disagreements once school started. My middle schooler has more common sense and better conflict resolution than most of those college kids and their moms.
My parents never came to help me move in or out of any dorm or apartment when I was in college. Aside from a computer and plastic shelving unit, I don't even remember going with them to buy stuff beforehand. Either packed stuff from home or bought things over the first few weeks as needed. These people are rolling up to dorms with multiple cars filled with stuff that these groups say they HAVE TO HAVE and chances are their kid probably is never going to use them. Such as condoms.
