Unreal. I don't care what color or ethnicity you are. When you're peering over me and about to cut into me, I want you to be qualified.

All this chart tells me is that I definitely want a white doctor.

What do the demographics of the medical profession look like? Curious if this is persisting into actual practice. The majority of the doctors I come across are still Asian/Indian and white. Anecdotal of course.

I was sent, by chance, to a black, female cardiologist to perform a delicate heart procedure. She may be the greatest cardiologist in the world, but with affirmative action and diversity, she may not be deserving of her position at all. I was not going to chance it.

Every POC professional has an asterisk next to their name, that's not racism, that's realism.

Black med students only make up something like 6 percent of all med school classes, however black residents make up 20% of those dismissed from their residency programs. Of course the narrative is immediately, “racism in medicine,” but I wonder how much of it is actually, “oh shite this person wasn’t qualified and is actually a danger to patients.”
