No manual and 50/50 weight distribution, no care. Trash vehicle that handles like a boat.

I’m honestly kind of disappointed it doesn’t come with FSD. That’s a deal breaker for me.
That defeats the whole purpose of a "roadster" of any make though
It's literally for those that enjoy driving and performance. FSD is the total opposite of what this is intended for

Don’t let this car anywhere near the Georgia football program

After a while to process it, and a bunch of furious text messages with my car bro group text I have a few thoughts.
As a geek I enjoyed the hell out of the reveal. Tons of fun.
As a car guy, I am disappointed because I learned very little about the base car. I will say this is understandable when you have a car that is better at gymnastics than Simone Biles.
I think that the car looks good, but it is not my aesthetic. I have never liked the Lamborghini wedge, and I don't like boattails, and this has a semi-boattail which is certainly good from a Cd POV. When I see a new sports car revealed, I clamor for three bits of information: looks, power, and weight. I got nothing on power or weight. I don't like the fact the base car will have had to be designed around the flying car. That leaves a lot of void space in packaging that didn't need to be there. I will reserve some opinions when I see the base car independently tested, it is the only one I might have any interest in.
The interior follows the typical Tesla aesthetic, which some may like, but I am averse to it in a luxury sports car. The seats being molded in give me pause. I have tried out the Porsche carbon buckets, and with the custom inserts they are a great track day seat, but for road driving I much prefer the 18-way Sport Seat. I am curious about the adjustability in the Roadster. I also don't like the yoke steering wheel. Unless the steering ratio is too fast for the street, it will suck on the track; there are times you need to shuffle. It is possible you can adjust the steering ratio since it is steer-by-wire, which might reduce the issue, but I guarantee I would be grabbing air sometimes on the track.
I remain open-minded, but I will be interested in indy tests. I imagine I could get over the looks (in a different color) if the performance of the base car is intriguing enough.
Another big question is the driving dynamics. Every car company that builds sporty/sporst cars has a signature dynamic. BMW M is different from Mercedes AMG, and Porsche is different from Ferrari. The OG Roadster was built by a fledgling company, and we don't have a history of how they would tune the chassis of a sports car. Being an EV, they have the option of going a lot of different ways, whereas you are more limited with the location of the engine in an ICE car.
The Roadster Rocket is astonishing; will the Roadster Performance be even remotely interesting? I dunno.

Honestly does. Better looking than the roadster revealed 10 years ago.

I would say it will never happen, but Musk will build a few dozen for $1MM a piece. A youtuber will get ahold of one and review.
The base may make it to production in 5 years but it will be a lot different. Say less than 10% chance. Probably less if Tesla really does merge with SpaceX later this year.

Correct. Elon never achieves what he sets out to do. He really is just a failure at everything.

If only there was a middle ground. But I guess in your world it has to be one way or the completely opposite.

Anyone catch anything about the new crypto currency? Was there anything at the end of the presentation about it? I may have turned it off too fast.
Were you watching one of the crypto scam feeds on YT with a QR code? They do it every time Elon does a live feed and someone linked to one earlier in the thread. He did not talk about crypto in the official Roadster reveal.

Pointing out his scams doesn't discredit his successes.
Ignoring his scams is just simping for him like you want him to frick your old lady.
