Tesla Owners....would you buy again?

Wife has been looking at Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC. I told her she needs to look at the new Tesla Y. Of those of you that have one, how big of a change is it? We have a Tesla dealership that just opened near our house here in KC. She would mainly be driving it to work which is maybe 3 miles from our house. Are there any maintenance issues etc? How much to get charger installed at your house?

Don't own one yet, but have plenty of friends, family and coworkers with them. I've driven everything from a baseline model 3 to a P100D (i work for a Tesla strategic partner on the residential solar side). They're great cars. Not a single person i know regrets buying it and most are looking to get another to replace another car. I was really intrigued by the truck but just can't stomach the design, so i'll be sticking with gas burners for a while.
As far as the charger install, it really depends on how close to a panel it would be and the house. I've seen some as cheap as a couple hundred bucks, all the way up into the thousands depending on how far they have to run to tie into the MSP or solar inverter if you have that.
ETA. The soon to be Mrs. Billjamin will be upgrading her IS350 to one in the near future

I’ll be cold and deceased in my aston before i let one of my chauffeurs sit behind the wheel of one of those higgledy-piggledy gizmos designed by that condescending Penn fop.

Usually I use the carpool line (at morning drop-off) to gage vehicle trends. Mostly dads dropping off in trucks, suv's, and the occasional beamer/Porsche/Acura..
There has been a Tesla added about every year. They're making headway and you see more and more.
All you oil and gas baws can keep shaking your fists. The autodrive revolution will not be stopped.

I just bought a standard model 3. I took delivery Friday.
I’m not a car guy at all, but I really do enjoy this car. Absolutely no regrets.
Coming from a much older car, it took some getting used to, especially with regenerative breaking, not needing keys, etc. but a few days in and it’s pretty normal now. I’m very comfortable driving it.
Too soon to tell you about maintenance issues, but given its simplicity, there’s not a whole lot that can break, although I’ve read about people having issues.
The purchase process can use some work (particularly with communication ) but every Tesla person I’ve dealt with has been absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable. Best car buying experience I’ve ever had by far.
Tesla’s wall charger is $500 (there are slightly cheaper 3rd party chargers) and you’ll have to pay an electrician (unless you’re comfortable doing that kind of work), but if she’s mostly driving 6 miles round trip, she could just plug it in to a standard wall outlet and be fine. I drive roughly 20 miles a day and that’s what I’m doing for now.
I don’t know specifics about the model Y, but I’m very happy with the 3 and I’m sure she’ll love the Y.

Do you think electricity is generated by fairy dust and rainbows?

If I had a standard commute, I would consider leasing one...no way in hell I’d actually purchase one. Most Tesla’s on the road are 4 years old or less so jury’s still out about long term reliability.

Do European cars hold their value any better these days? Go with a Lexus and drive it for hundreds of thousands of miles if you choose.

Yep, leasing is one thing but if buying...Lexus

Yes. Also was just able to cut my car insurance in half

I'm interested in how much of an uptick you see on home utility costs with the charger
But hey if you bought a Tesla..the 20% inc. of electricity aint your worry

I pay about an extra $30/month on electricity. Save over $200 on gas.

My cousin had one. Lower base model. He loves it. Drove in from Orlando. Had to charge it a couple of times

IIRC, dad said it’s $5-$6 max per full home fill but for him, all supercharger station fillips are free anyway.
ETA: 330 mile range per fill up.
