What type Tesla do you have, what state, and how did it impact your insurance rates compared to your previous/other vehicles?

Will it be lower if I get the slower base model?

I'm plugging in the numbers into the Geico quote generator and it has insurance for the a base model 3 as being 3x more expensive than insurance on my Silverado LTZ. That seems ridiculous.

Thanks. What kind of car did you move from and what kind of Tesla do you have?

Don’t buy the horse if you can’t feed it.

All the more reason to ascertain how much it costs to feed said horse.

Most of the Tesla’s I insure in FL are around 800-1000 every six months with 100/300 liability limits.

Most people think they should be cheaper to insure because of the tech, but that isn’t the case. They are expensive to repair and the parts are hard to obtain

2019 Mid-range Model 3, Texas, $10/month cheaper than the 2015 Dodge Charger I previously had.

Factor in the electricity costs to charge it up too.

I'm not a current owner, but I am pricing them as well. I contacted my insurance agent and my premiums will go up about $10/month over my current 2016 Altima in central Arkansas.

Well, that's not too bad. Maybe the Geico quote I got was a fluke. I'll reach out to progressive tomorrow. If it only goes up $10/mo I'm going to pull the trigger. I already put a deposit down on a Cybertruck but it could be 2-3 years before they release the AWD version.

What's the crash rate data looking like? Is there enough data to determine whether they crash more/less than other vehicles?

The net cost of electricity vs gas will be significantly less for the Telsa than the P/U.

Yep. I have DEMCO so it won't be bad at all. There's a 50 amp circuit that the previous owner used to backfeed from a generator (suicide plug) that I can have the electrician repurpose for a charger outlet. The charger itself is $500.

What's crazy is that the increased insurance premiums going from a truck to a Tesla will be as much, if not more than what I save on fuel.

The indestructible CYBERTRUCK will cost nothing to insure as it will destroy everything in its path.

I like the concept of a unibody chassis, but I'm not sure the extent to which it is "uni-". It would suck if something did crush a quarter panel and you need a whole new chassis.

Good point, factor in the huge savings on charging up vs gas.
