I'm not a current owner, but I am pricing them as well. I contacted my insurance agent and my premiums will go up about $10/month over my current 2016 Altima in central Arkansas.

The way that I understand it is the capital gains exclusion only applies to the primary residence. Thus, unless he occupies the property in question, he would owe capital gains on the sale.

However, if he is retired and his only income is from Social "Insecurity" he would probably be in the 10% tax bracket and thus his capital gains tax rate would be 0%.

A lot of words to say, I think the sale would be subject to capital gains tax but the rate would be 0%.

It appears based on the information provided (quoted above) that they will in fact be out much more than the $3 Million out of pocket mentioned. They have to pay the payments to the bond holders.

I feel like we are watching "the identity theft of kj hill" unfold before our eyes.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for this guy's problems. This is in my town and he has more problems coming his way.
