Tesla Owners ICE’d By RAM 1500 That ‘Identifies As A Prius’ Sipping Elec. At Supercharger

A Ram 1500 pickup truck was photographed at a Tesla charging station with a good part of the charging cable’s plug placed inside its tailpipe. For the uninitiated, that’s something EV owners call “ICE-ing”, which is the practice of someone with an internal combustion engine (ICE) blocking -in various ways- a charging station.

The image, which was shared on Twitter by TheTeslaLife accompanied by a short caption that tagged the Oregon Electric Vehicle Association, sparked an online debate, with some condemning the act and others seeing it as nothing more than a joke.

The truck had Oregon license plates and a tailgate sticker saying ‘I identify as a Prius’ and, in all likelihood, its driver thought it would be funny to pose the rig next to the charging station. Nevertheless, the plug did end up going up the exhaust pipe, and was likely covered in soot.

It certainly is not that uncommon seeing ICE-powered vehicles blocking EV charging stations, a practice that could easily lead to a conflict with electric car drivers.

These situations could be avoided with something called ‘common sense’ and a little bit of respect. Since you can’t rely on them, though, perhaps, as user Toby Li pointed out, Tesla should adopt a solution like China’s, where zero-emission car charging spots are isolated by remote locks that can only be lowered by Tesla drivers.

I'm honestly surprised to not see a 'Trump Won' flag on the bed of that truck.

The electric vehicle driver should stick a gas nozzle in his outlet.

That’ll show em!

Don't like electric cars? Fine.

Think they are whimpy cars? Ok.

I can understand all of that. I just don't understand blocking charging stations and being a douche about it. Who the hell cares?

I’ve seen a dodge 3500 in Dallas that has that on the back window but it takes up the entire thing. Baw was rolling coal on 635 when I saw him.

Got a pretty good laugh.

Why would anyone block a charging station? How are EVs in conflict with ICEs? Makes no sense.

frick that guy. I would have moved the plug into his gas tank. That’s just a dick move unless you were just closing for a couple of minutes.

Last I checked, the electrical charging stations and parking spots are not law protected like handicapped, fire zones etc, so really to me, If there is a huge parking lot full and the only spaces open for mile are for elect cars, I’m parking my 250 in there. It’s consideration that’s it. It’s like saying I’m going to leave the open spots in front and park way in the back because I want to be considerate of other who may want a closer spot. So now we are starting to electric shame drivers?

It's not like Teslas are lined up waiting for a charging station, there is a supercharger station close to my house, I pass it almost every day, have never seen a car charging.

Can't wait to get my cyber truck and park in front of the diesel pumps.
Why are ICE folks so insecure?

I've never felt the need to park my F250 in front of a charging station.
