if you're not driving the EV and its sitting in the garage; all the electronic stuff will drain the battery so you'll go to bed at 80% and wake up the next day at 73%.

This doesn’t happen to mine. I have a BMW IX M60. Whatever the percentage of battery charge is when I park it, that’s what it is the next time I drive it. All the other negative comments about range are true, but not this one.

Tesla’s in shambles bc Elon’s pet projects. EVERYONE said the cyber truck was ugly, expensive, and cringey. He still made them produce over 200k of them

Let's not forget the 4 cyl. shitmotor in the Tundra.

First, it’s a twin turbo 6 Baw. Do some research before shite posting. Toyota definitely having issues with this engine but out of all the truck manufacturers, especially domestic ones, my moneys on Toyota to fix the issue…the 4cylinders that Toyota makes are proven, reliable motors. The engine set-up in new Taco is actually simple one…reliable 4 cylinder & single turbo. With hybrids, Toyota been building reliable ones for DECADES now. I have one on my RAV4 work car, it’s a great set-up.

Heck, I have a 2024 Ford Escape that gets 37 MPG. I can go over 500 miles a tank. At todays gas prices, it costs about 30 dollars to fill up,

And filling your tank takes less than 5 minutes. No substitute for that.

I'd jump at a free hybrid. Wouldn't be interested in a free EV.

it was a joke, y'all. clearly a 100 mile range hilux isn't going to set the ev market on fire.

i did an experiment. left my tesla plugged in in my garage and it fluctuated between 78 and 81% whenver i would check on my phone.

also unplugged it after hitting 80% and the next time i went to drive it, it was in the low 70s.

after a few days it went even lower. GHOST FUEL COSTS

that doesnt happen with gas; what you have in the vehicle is what you're still going to have 2 months from now.

no way you are going to convince me w/ all the active electronics and things going on with EVs to keep the batteries in shape, etc. that its not going to drain the batteries to some degree over time whether you want to admit it or not.

quote:

How to reduce overnight battery loss
Turn off Sentry Mode: If you know you won't need it, disable Sentry Mode when parking for the night.

Keep the car plugged in: This is the best way to ensure the battery stays charged, especially in cold weather.

Limit app usage: Avoid waking the car up frequently with the app, as this uses power.

Disable extra features: Some users suggest turning off all non-essential power-using options and using a "turn car off" feature to minimize drain, especially when parked for extended periods

so clearly when i parked my car and went to bed i did not know how to park my car. if you need an entire guide to tell you how to keep your car from losing too much fuel overnight, that's a CON of ev ownership.

Yeah, it seems like that would be a prompt when you park. I guess Teslas are more aggressive about that. Someone could probably steal my BMW and it would happily go along with it.

i'm not hating on tesla; there were LOTS of things i loved about it; but through a unplanned series of unfortunate events, we limped into a supercharger in the middle of nowhere with the battery level reading ZERO and my wife has never gotten over that.

i wont bore you with the details but it was a combination of dad forgetting to crank the charging up to 100% the night before (this shouldn't even be a thing!!!), long drive to pick up a family member, finding out cumberland caverns closed earlier than we thought and there were not super-chargers along the way..and the car saying we would still make it with 5% left to a charging station after we got done..but it was hot that day so the battery drained enough the hour or so we were in the cave so by the time we came out, it was predicting we *MIGHT* make it to a charger in time.

we sold it the next week

ever dealt with a frustrated wife, car full of kids and the possibility of being stranded in the middle of NOWHERE, TN?

i tried to tell her that things conspired to make that happen but i couldn't even convince myself that was a one-time episode.

Biggest issue still with a hybrid is the battery.

Once the battery ages beyond its usefulness, you are stuck paying over 10k just to replace the batteries.

Of course, you still have the combustion engine to power the car unless the car uses the “engine” as a generator only to create electric power to keep the battery above a certain percent. In that case, you car is bricked if the battery malfunctions.
