Tennessee bill would make drivers immune from civil liability in protests

quote:

"A person driving an automobile who is exercising due care and injures another person who is participating in a protest or demonstration and is blocking traffic in a public right of way is immune from civil liability for such injury."

I like the intent but this could go to some bad places. A lot of "protestors" on bikes are gonna get nailed.

I don't think these legislators know that due care does not mean what they imagine it means.

This is basically the legislative equivalent of masturbation.

Needs to be nation wide. Protest all you want, but don't block streets/interstates/ect.

How many cases of people accidentally running over pedestrians and claiming that they were protesting to avoid jail time? Kinda like shooting someone and claiming self defense.

If you are in the road unlawfully, get off the road. Protest from the sidewalk.
