Louisiana if you put in a notice but are immediately asked to leave then they have to pay you for any unused PTO/vacation time.
Only if it is accrued.
OP just wait until you are ready to put in your 2 weeks. I understand you are trying to do the right thing, the "company has been good to you" but they will replace you as soon as you leave. It's just business don't worry about being the nice guy

Keep your mouth shut until it's time to leave.

I'd say leave a notice but if that is the case where they escort you off as soon as you try to do the right thing than frick em... Work as long as you need to and tell them on the day you intend to leave.

I would go to your management and ask what their policy is for continuing education. Tell them you havent made that decision yet but you are trying to weigh your options bc you feel it would be beneficial for the company and yourself to get your MBA. By doing this, you will find out if they would help with tuition, will maybe allow you to work part time while in school, or will let you go immediately. Typically if you emphasize you are doing this to help them, they might be more lenient on their policy of showing you the door immediately. Definitely dont tell thrm youve already been accepted and its definitely what you are doing.

This is the best advice on this thread. Have this conversation and see how it goes. If they are not receptive to helping pay some of the tuition, don't bring it up again until you put in your two weeks notice two weeks before you plan to leave.

Don't be a dumbass. Two weeks notice is appropriate. They don't give a frick about you... They would fire you tomorrow if they needed to.

Schedule classes normally
3-4 weeks out, ask if they'll pay for school
2 weeks out, give them your two weeks if they won't pay up
That way you can possibly get your MBA paid for, and you won't get fired until you're ready to leave anyway

This is the correct answer.

Two weeks notice. You owe them nothing.

I am at a large corporate company, and getting my MBA. They are paying for it.

Why on earth would you tell them 9 months early?
Work and inform them 2 weeks before you leave. I'm sure you'll appriciate the extra money while back in school.
If you think there's a chance they will help pay for it, wait until summer and tell them you are "considering" it to feel out their response. If they are wishy washy then just worked until 2 weeks before school.

Be prepared to be released from your duties immediately after telling him. Alot of businesses perceive a notice as "checked out" and lack of production therefore a waste of money. The employer may ask you to leave asap;very common policy in business so they can move on

Since you're leaving for more schooling I'd see if they wanted to help you out.

Good rule for everybody. I knew a guy that did this and got a newly released early retirement package. If he had put in his two weeks notice, they would have told him to hit the road.

There is absolutely no reason to give notice 9 months in advance. If they let you stay in the interim, they will find your replacement than walk you off the site.
Why stop working anyway? I'd go for an executive MBA program and keep some cash in your pocket.
