The year I was born LSU lost their opening game to Rice in Houston 3-16 and went on a 10 game win streak to finish 4th in the nation.

I walked on the LSU Football Team by literally walking in the Athletic Office in the North Endzone of Tiger Stadium and asking who to speak to. Filled out an application and met Bo Bahnsen 5 minutes later. I had a locker next to Andre Lafleur two days later.
The football team was so bad back then they would take anyone who looked the part and had decent grades(that helped the overall team GPA
)
It was December 1993.

Only thing I'll add is Magoo's on Chimes St. and the hostage crisis in Iran started that fall. Campus was somewhat interesting for a few weeks after that...

We did it to Japan,

That’s an awesome story !
Was a 5th string walk-on himself in Fall ‘91 who lived a few rooms down from us in Power Hall , and used to practice kicking next door on the U High Football Field.. was cool to see, after id left LSU, that he worked his way up on the depth chart and beat MS State on a last second field goal in Fall ‘93 to win the starting job .

Back in the day; Slide rules were the key complex calculater, before SI or HP handhelds. Tray to tray distillation calculations required a huge amount of addition, multiplication , division etc. For the senior project, we broke into the nuclear science bldg. at one in the morning, to access the Wang computer which greatly helped calculation speed.
The wang could do add, subtract, multiply, divide.
Had to walk past the deep water pool with the glowing green/blue element at the bottom.

When I went to LSU we had a beer truck in our fraternity front yard and the administration would drink with us. I went into the tunnels at night with my buddies and popped my head out threw National Guard concussion grenades at random students and never got arrested or even pursued heavily by campus police . All my friends had names like John, Scott, Mike,Rick,Tom, Brad, Greg etc. That’s how old I am.

I only camped out one night and was almost near the top of the ramp in prime position to flip off Laetner and Hurley and was on maybe the 10th row. Why did you camp out a week?

My first semester, we registered in the Assembly Center, tuition cost was $ 160.00. The White Horse Tavern was rocking back then.
