Humidity is too low. Seriously.
It’s pretty, but it’s kind of desolate in reality.

Its a pain in the arse if you dont enjoy getting out and doing winter sports. If you ski, snowshoe, hike, ice fish, snowmobile, ect... yeah there's nothing to it.
But without that, youre kinda inside a lot and just dealing with ice when you do go outside.
10 mile commute can easily turn into an hour plus when a truck jackknifes and closes 70 for hours.

Every single person I’ve ever met who thinks Colorado is the greatest thing ever is a gigantic fig. Easily the most annoying transplant population in the country

If you’re into skiing, snowboarding, 4wheeling, motorcycles, dirt bikes, white water, etc it’s very easy to see why so many people love Colorado. Over 300 days of sunshine and an incredible music scene. Politics and cost of living are the only negatives. The crime is very very low compared to the east coast and south.

Colorado is not a bad place, but seriously slanted left. Surprisingly, Colorado Springs is one of the most conservative cities in the country. I've spent time in CS and a small town called La Veta, about 120 miles southwest of Pueblo. La Veta is insanely nice and fun if you can afford it.
Keep in mind that Colorado, like many blue states, taxes your motor vehicle on the value of said vehicle, and that gets real expensive if you like nice cars.
BTW, the roads are in terrible condition, at least in the Colorado Springs area. Some say they are being punished for being such a red area.

Sometimes it snows a bit more then we're used too, like last week east of Denver. Drive your F250 and you'll be good.

Know 3 different couples/families who have lived there 20 years or so and left there in the last few years. They mostly blame cost of living, crime, homelessness and druggies spreading beyond Denver now to the suburbs. They also got tired of the tourists, traffic, and crowds.

The eastern half is basically western Kansas

quote:I felt that way the first time I moved to a desert years ago. I thought it looked like an inhospitable, dead landscape. But before long I started to appreciate, and eventually find beauty in the vastness of the desert valleys, most of which are only apparent as valleys because you can clearly see the mountains around you from 80 miles in every direction, the sunsets that take up almost the entire sky, the stars at night in that giant sky far away from light pollution. I challenge anyone to do a solo hike through the empty desert, free from any man made sound, and not feel spiritual peace.
I can't imagine moving from somewhere so water-centric as Louisiana to somewhere so dry as Colorado. I love visiting the desert and all, I just don't think I could stay in it - or even a place as dry as a mediterranean climate like California or Italy or Greece. If I see dirt, I want to see something try to be growing out of it, I don't care if it's a mold or what, something.
Now I'm talking the deserts of the American West here. I've seen a few deserts in the middle east and they can all get fricked.

If it weren’t for my job I’d happily move to Colorado or Utah. If you’re already thinking about it, do it man. Louisiana is a pretty bad state by every metric. If family or career isn’t holding you back, leave.

Killing your baby up until birth is enshrined in their constitution.
I will never spend another cent in their evil state.

Cold weather is great to visit but not to live in

About 1/3 of CO is high, flat, desert
Another 1/3 is overpriced but low-density population (and they want it to stay that way) in a great environment
The other 1/3 is overrun with leftists, homeless, and meth/heroin heads

It’s a gorgeous state and I’ve been to it numerous times. It’s very liberal, and in many parts, very expensive. There are places
that are not as expensive, but it won’t be in any scenic places. The smell of weed is prevalent in many places you visit.

Housing prices are ridiculous. Looked at moving there, our mortgage would be 4x for a house 2x the size I have now.
