I’ve seen a few documentaries about Angola and he always seemed like a straightforward, decent guy. Lately I’ve seen people say that he turned corrupt. Did I miss something? What’s his story?

A warden at one of the toughest penitentiaries in the country and you don't think corruption was involved?

He was an innovative reformer who turned Angola from a hellhole into as decent a place as it's possible for a maximum security prison to be. He also wasn't averse to lining his own pockets and those of family and friends, if the allegations are correct. Most people are some combination of saint and sinner.

I just know Burl Cain is literally the perfect name for the warden of the toughest pen in the entire country and also for any prison nicknamed "The Farm"

he worked for the La. govt. You surprised that he'd be "corrupt"? I think you have to be born corrupt to work for this state.

Don't know if he was EWE level corrupt, but he ran the Farm with an iron fist and kept the animals in line. I'd like to have him in charge of DOC. Corrupt or not.

did you say (in a previous thread) that you had some dealings with Angola that didn't seem to be exactly ethical?
Not on your part, but on how Angola did its business.

He was pretty good at playing the part of a benevolent old man, but he was about as corrupt as it gets.

He spent years enriching himself and his entire family on the public teet, and you think people who have a problem with that are the cucks?

There could not be a better name for a warden of a state pen in the south. His picture and name are straight out of a Grisham novel

Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) would have crushed that role

Wasn't me. I have no involvement with the DOC. I only know what I've read.
