It’s a city the Egyptians abandoned back in the 600s. Congrats on finding a job there!

or even Olive Branch, MS
I lived there for a couple years in the early 90s and my god has that place grown. Completely unrecognizable.

If you can live in Southaven, MS I wouldn’t hesitate as long as the salary makes sense.

I’d avoid the entire city of Memphis.

Collierville or Germantown.

Stay out of everywhere in the city besides east Memphis and midtown. Downtown is ok during the day.

Check out Marion Arkansas. You’ll be 10 minutes from Downtown Memphis.

I saw the ghost of Elvis on Union Avenue. Followed him up to the gates of Graceland and watched him walk right though

Lived in the suburbs for many years. Olive branch, Collierville, Germantown, etc had all got to bad for us in 2020. It spreads like a virus. If you move to the next "safe" area it's just a matter of time before that area is questionable and then unsafe and your property values have tanked. Not sure where you live now but it's more than likely a lot better.

Also the other poster who said southaevn... that's a hard no. It's either Lewisburg or bust Hernando being the fall back if you can't afford Lewisburg.

Lived there for a year after college.. Midtown, East Memphis are both fine. Otherwise move out to burbs. I’d never more there unless you’re actually from there. Trust me.

Worked with a guy a few years ago, his son lived in Midtown was carjacked in his drive way when he went to work one morning. Stole his car, and wallet at gun point while his girlfriend watched.

Can you elaborate on this? Is it cause it's super cliquey?

It’s like New Orleans and Jackson, but further north.
