Also I thought the mountains were closer to Denver.
Common misperception. Very very flat in and around Denver.

been in denver 20+ years. i dig it
glendale is as good a place as any to get started. i might look at housing in wash park which is very close and very nice/safe. glendale has a few patches of sketchy apartments or less desirous neighbors but for the most part is fine. whoever mentioned sports clubs/running clubs/etc. was right - there are tons for most any interest and a great way to meet people. traffic to and from the mountains is what it is. if you have the ways/means to ski or do whatever you do on weekdays it's fine. you don't need a garage but if we get a snowy winter shoveling off your car can get old
best of luck to them!

Lives in Castle Rock
That's sort of like being from Naperville but saying you live in Chicago. I've got a buddy that lives in Castle Rock. Has a family but seems to like it.
ETA: to be clear he likes both Castle Rock and his family.

I dont understand the trend lately of people seeking advice about the decisions their grown arse kids are making.

Denver is a beautiful, very clean city with great outdoor life. LoDo(Lower Downtown) has great restaurants.
And the summer weather is spectacular. It will get cold as hell in the winter, though.
Colorado as a whole is arguably the most beautiful state in the union.

The naysayers are still googling whether the mayor is D or R before they throw in their expert opinions.
He/him/she/her is a D, as is the flamer gov, 2/3 of the state legislators, sec of state, atty general, etc. I unfortunately live under their communist rule, so I don't have to look it up.

You been there recently? Everyone I've talked to that has been recently said downtown is dirty with lots of homeless.

I just got back from there a few weeks ago. I've been all across this country and Denver was one of the biggest shite holes I've been to in a while. Immigrants everywhere, homeless everywhere, zombies stumbling around the streets, heroin addicts slumped over everywhere. Run into a store or to get food and you have to keep an eye on your ride, watching to see if it it'll be broken into. Women are ugly hippy types, blue hairs, smell bad and look like showers are hard to come by. Oh and most stuff is locked up in Walmart and no plastic bags anywhere and you have to buy paper bags.
Landscape surrounding it is obviously beautiful, there's nice places and things to do but everything above ruined it for me.
Place sucks, people can get butt hurt about the political argument, but it's very much true... It's obvious why that place has been ruined.

Just wait until his son introduces his new partner over a Thai-Ethiopian dinner in LoDo.

Lived here 8 years. Great place to grow a family in the burbs, never a worry about crime or anything like that. Make the jump you won’t regret it! You can be in Idaho springs in 30min from Denver if you’re on the West side of town. You’re closer than you think

We were last out there in 2018. Thinking of heading back next summer and going to SE Wyoming(Saratoga) again.
We never went to downtown but we did do some things in LoDo and it was clean.
