My friends kids went there. They liked it and went on to do well in college.

They used to murder the MPSA in basketball.

So good that instead of “warming up” before games and during halftime, they’d just play tip-in.

I’ve only heard good things. Had friends whose kids went there. It’s not a huge school but big enough.

We used to play them in baseball. Was always interesting going down there to say the least.

Their baseball team seemed to be a breeding ground for LSU players. Lots of talent.

From what I remember...

All white
LISA turned MPSA school
Great athletics if your son doesnt want to play special teams at Catholic or Zachary.
Academics are about average.

I wonder who thinks who is better between them and Silliman.

Central Private is a product of the time when Central was not an ISD and for kids who lived in the Central area, but weren't inside the district boundries.

Academics are not as good as Zachary, central or LP. Athletics are ok if you can’t start at any of the schools mentioned. But a very homogenous population.

I graduated from there. Good academics. Good athletics, especially baseball when I was there. Small school where everyone knows everyone. My senior class had 44 if I remember correctly.

That said, I have a 4&6 year old now and both are enrolled in Central community schools. My younger brother graduated from Central High. We are going to see how it goes with CCSS but I won’t hesitate on putting them both in CPS if we don’t like the education they’re getting. Right now, it’s not worth the tuition for us. I’m hoping Central schools continue thriving and I can hold on to that $10k a year I’d spend at CPS.

I've never heard any negaives about it. They've been approved for admission in to LHSAA and will compete there next year. Football in MAIS has moved to 7-man for a lot of schools so I'm guesing they had to travel pretty far for most games. I don't know what their curriculum looks like, but they probably don't have many electives. You may be able to arrange for your child to visit for a day. My boys attended what was then an MPSA school and the students were very close. They still are. Probably the best decision we made as parents.

They recruited players from all over the world (Australia) and it ended up costing marriages. Sides was the best that ever came through their program and she ended up at OM and La Tech and, well, we all know how that ended for Pokey.

They used to kill it in baseball, too, until their coach left and the players left with him.
Lane Mestapey and Kevin Shipp came from there. They were both pretty decent players for LSU.

It’s a good school.

That was the biggest difference b/w CPS and CHS. There were hardly any electives at CPS. Might be different now.
