Back in the mid 2000’s we went down there for the state playoffs, had a good team but those guys were elite..
they had Chase Richard - pitched at ULL
Josh wall-drafted by the dodgers in the 1st or 2nd round throwing mid 90’s

First play of the game our fastest player and one of the best RB’s in MPSA that year , in the leadoff, hit a ball in the hole at 3rd, guy dives and fields it backhanded and throws our guy out and it was a holy shite moment.
We got swept with the quickness .

They ended our state playoff hopes twice.

Guy I worked with went there back in the early 00’s. He went there because his mom was a teacher there at the time.

I’m surprised CPS is still open all these years after Central made its own ISD

Central Private is a product of the time when Central was not an ISD and for kids who lived in the Central area, but weren't inside the district boundries.

CP and Silliman have been referred to as "Segregation Academies."

While there are Central residents who send their kids there, a lot of the students come from outside of the Central school district. A lot come from the Pride area instead of going to Northeast. No way in hell I would pay the amount of property taxes we pay in Central and send my kids to private school. If we moved out of Central, CPS would be a viable option.

Silliman was our biggest rival. I hated those green bastards. Except for Sally. I don't remember her last name but I had a major crush on her in middle school

Academically meh.

We had the highest average ACT scores in EBR when I was there in early 2000s

Possibly the worst brag of all time

Academics are not as good as Zachary, central or LP. Athletics are ok if you can’t start at any of the schools mentioned. But a very homogenous population.

You just described almost every public school in EBR parish.

The wife and I went to their open house this past year. We were looking at options for our two sons starting school. Here’s what I thought:

-better than public schools but not a high end/large private school
-academics are prob on par or slightly ahead of public schools in Central/LP/Zachary
-13-16 or less per class, compared to the 18-24 or more at some public schools
-all white
-still haven’t fixed much from the flood
-cheap, I believe 3000 per kid in the prek/kindergarten age...compared to Parkview’s 9000
-not as advanced or proactive to push new/more efficient curriculum as Parkview, Episcopal, St Michaels
-teachers and the head of the school gave me a creepy vibe

Worked with a girl years ago who was a teacher there. She got fired for giving one of the students a blow job in the parking lot. I didn’t believe it but one of the office guys pulled it up, she’s a registered S.O. I forgot her name but she didn’t look bad

Still no black kids at CPS? When I went there half of the campus was covered in confederate flags. One of my friends took this pic after the flood a few years ago. I remember when they painted the court like that

I must’ve run a million down and backs or suicides on that court

You forgot a few more like Chris Ernest and Jesse Simpson. Achord recruited the hell out of those guys.

I'm a good bit older than you. I actually graduated from Central High in 1996 but went to CPS through the 10th grade.

I'm bad with names. I remember Coach Carroll and Dr Sisson fairly well though. Carroll used to paddle us with a confederate flag paddle when you got your letterman's jacket. You'd have stars and bars bruises on your arse

Ohh yeah. I was in 2nd/3rd grade when you were there

Dr Sisson retired for a while, then came back.
Remember Mrs Jay? Taught World History
Remember Mrs Hill? Taught typing and Business
Remember Mrs Williams? Taught Calculus, Trig, Advanced Math, and Algebra 2
What about Mrs Jenkins? Taught Biology 1&2
Your Guidance Counselor wasn’t probably Mrs Watts

When CP lost some of those legends, it was doomed
