Here's a little more background on the story with a good take on it:
LINK

Evidently, the gym had agreed to let the guy deadlift if he put down pads for the plates to land on. The dbag was just some random gym member.

I know Canada is different but if noise is an issue, why doesn't the dbag just wear headphones like any normal gymbro would and mind his own business?

Because he had to show how tough he was by messing with a teenager.

The kid was fully in his rights seeing that 1. He was in a gym and 2. They have barbells and mats for deadlifting. I'd bet my entire paycheck the older mofo is having "Roid Rage" and needs to be thrown the frick out the gym!

The man that was banned deserved to be punched in the throat

Yeah I would have had a hard time keeping my cool in that situation. He could have hurt the kid pretty bad had he not let go right away, could fricked his back up.

Kid easily could have slipped a disk after the arse-clown kicked the weights.

So you deadlift without making noise? What that guy was doing was perfectly acceptable for a deadlift.

I don't deadlift and if I did I wouldn't use a ton of weight to avoid back complications.

Lol at the meathead lifting 300 lbs. That is fairly light weight for deadlifts. You should probably stay out of gyms all together if that bothered you.

Look how much I lift, bro.

He should have just got an employee. He doesn't have to listen to that tool kicking his weights.

Odds are the attacker was the person who lodged the original complaints against the teen for being too loud in the first place.

Teenager had too much weight on the bar. If you can’t control it back to the ground, it’s too heavy.

That doesn't apply to deadlifting

Most powerliftiing gyms have lifting platforms for this purpose that absorb the impact and/or have rubberized olympic lifting plates.

This gym wasn't ideal for deadlifting, but the teenager wasnt doing anything wrong from a technique standpoint

I would not leave. At all. And I’d call the police and show them my video. And if/when the guy hits me, I’m suing the frick out of him. And I’m making sure he’s blacklisted from any gym.

Idk what the guy’s problem was, the kid lifting more than him?

I was wondering about that. If what that guy did (the way he stepped on the bar causing it to fall out of the kid's hands) could have caused an injury. Obviously if the kid would have held on to the bar it could have, but either way, it looks like the jackass who confronted him, told one of his buddies he was going confront him.. Because he came out to watch, so I guess he figured he had to put on a show instead of being diplomatic about the situation.

I was expecting to see the kid screaming while he lifted or something like that. There was nothing at all wrong with what the kid was doing. The guy who confronted him deserves an arse whipping for putting his foot on the bar...that could really hurt someone.

ETA: glad they got this on tape and it has gone viral.
