So if you are vaccinated against chicken pox or any of the other diseases that have been all but eradicated, why does it bother you if a few kids don't get vaccinated? If the vaccine works you don't have anything to worry about right?

It's better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

There is a reason the flu outbreak is so bad this year

Actually...I don't think it's worse than last year.

I know where I live at...the flu numbers are actually much lower than last season.

And flu...that one is a little different. We already know due to the nature of the flu virus...finding a vaccine that offers a high percentage of protection is difficult. Not to mention that there are several strains and the vaccine only protects against what they think may be the more prevalent strains(which is really a very educated guess). We won't know until after this flu season the actual effectiveness of the flu shot.

Still need to get a flu shot, cause 40-50% protection is still better than 0% protection. Plus protecting vulnerable people around you(babies, kids, elderly, immunocompromised).

But I don't consider everyone that refuses the flu shot an antivaxxer.

Non-vacciners should be prosecuted, and open to lawsuits if they get someone else sick.

Compelling argument for me to support the anti-vaxx movement! Humanity needs a good cleansing.

I don't see this lawsuit going far.

They were in a current chickenpox outbreak when they restricted his activities. That's a pretty standard response to an outbreak.

It's considered an emergent type situation so more extreme measures to contain it may be necessary. I'm sure the school was going off what their local public health department was mandating them to do. When they have these outbreaks...the public health department gets heavily involved and what they say....the schools have to do.

I had them my senior year in high school. Caught them from a four year old cousin. "It's ok, he's got the chicken pox, everybody's already had them, right?"

Missed two solid weeks of school. It was not fun times.

Yes, Bill, the school is trying to force it on you.

I can't argue with this.

Can we start it in India and/or China?

Not talking about the ones that are too young or otherwise can't be vaccinated, that's a totally different thing than what I mentioned. I said if you are vaccinated and a few aren't. Many times the freak out alarms are being set off by vaccinated folks that act like they are afraid to be around the kid.

More impressed that he made it 18 years without getting chickenpox. I had it by the time I was 7.

I know and care about children and others who can't be vaccinated.
