It is amazing how the woman talking at the beginning of the video was prescient enough to notice the lack of an anti-submarine strap on the ride. If it had indeed had them the kid would be alive, maybe with some seriously sore nuts but alive.

always heard people talk about Action Park from the 80s in New Jersey that was crazy and a lot of lawsuits, even a few deaths. I think they made a documentary about it.
It's on HBOMax. It's really good.

If I remember right it was some sort of elected officials kid as well.
I think it was a Kansas State Senator's son - if I remember correctly.
I think some girl fell out of a roller coaster at World's of Fun a few years back too.

but there is also a seatbelt ... you can hear the riders talking about it as the ride starts to go up.
NVM listened again, the rider was joking about the lack of a seat belt

The one chick asks why there isn't a safety belt that connects to the shoulder thing about 20 seconds in

this is how it looked to me as well. I did not hear the first part about there being no seat belt, and that's concerning. The thing is that these rides usually have a hump between the legs that the shoulder harness connects to which is designed to keep you from slipping out.
Was this shoulder harness not latched to the seat? Was it not pulled down all the way? Is the design flawed?
So many questions, and the possibility of fault can go anywhere from the rider to the ride operator to the engineers.

Transcript of park workers talking in the background of the video just after the accident from Orlando.com:
quote:
Worker 1: What are you doing?
Worker 2: I don’t know.
Worker 1: Didn’t you check it?
Worker 2: Yeah. The light was on.
Worker 3: We both -- we checked it. The light was on.
Worker 1: You guys are sure you checked it?
Workers 2 and 3: We did, yeah, the light was on.

I’m usually not squeamish with stuff but that video is bad.

Shows how random and senseless life and death is.

The woman in the beginning asked why didn't it have some sort of click underneath?

He looked like a very obese teen.. reckon the harness wasnt properly on?

Damn, looked like the harness just lifted up. Whoever was working that ride and failed to make a proper check is in deep shite.
That was a high velocity impact. Wow.
Probably a mechanical failure on that seat. Even if not, the person working the ride will likely only get fired. The owner of the ride will be in deep shite.

It always bothers me when those rides have the locking overhead brace, but it doesn’t tie down or seatbelt down. I want the extra knowledge of knowing the brace is seatbelted in so it can’t just lift up, it would have to break the seatbelt and lift up

Wonder if the harness couldn’t come down far enough due to their size and it left a gap on the bottom for them to slip out from.

Never again.
Yeah that scared the shite out of me too. This one is twice as tall.
