For all the shite they claim to have contributed to society, it’s a bit strange these are the statues we get to represent them.

"The black fist, also known as the Black Power fist, is a logo generally associated with Black nationalism, Black pride, solidarity, and socialism. Its most widely known usage is by the Black Panther Party, a Black Marxist group in the 1960s."

That is in front of a courthouse, just fricken wonderful.

A big F U to the white minority in NOLA.

I am still baffled on how the black power symbol is NOT racist but white power IS racist. Its both or none, IDC either way.

This thing juxtaposed against the image of neo-classical Gallier Hall tells you everything you need to know about the history of this city.

This comment hit the nail on the head.

Is that a permanent fixture? If so, Jesus fricking Christ

Incredible that it’s legal for the government to discriminate by race with public dollars. I mean I know it happens. It’s just incredible.

Y'all are quick to judge this piece of art without even seeing the Saggy Pants sculpture that will be erected to the left of the gigantic black power afro pick which will provide the artist's true vision for this project.
