Holy shitballs. Just take down every statue in this country. Apparently everyone is racist.

quote:

The statue of President Teddy Roosevelt at the entrance to the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan will be removed amid widespread protests over racial inequality and police brutality in the United States, a report said Sunday.

The statue, depicting the former president on horseback while flanked by a Native American man and a black man, has stood at the museum’s entrance since 1940, the New York Times reported.

Teddy was notoriously not racist. He even wanted to sleep with Sacajawea. It’s documented. It’s time to press pause for a year and let’s pick this back up next year if it’s still important.

I think it has more to do with the Native American and black guy beside him in the statute that offends people as it represents colonialism. I don’t think the beef is with Teddy himself. It’s ridiculous in any event.

But you can decide to stop celebrating and glorifying certain parts of it.

Not to say I agree with specific action, your statement is just dumb and tired

Sure you can

If history is written by the winners, then it surely can be edited by winners

Or it could represent a man trying to unite two regularly oppressed minorities during his time underneath the U.S. flag? The man had black Americans under his command during the Spanish-American War.

If history teaches us anything, it's that we can erase it.

So replace it. But they won't. It's gone for good.
