So they label everything as a “blocker?” At my last client they labeled something as a “blocker” and I dropped everything I was working on and completed it for them quickly.

A few months later they stated that I needed to update something for them on the incredibly important widget so I asked when is the down time so I can complete the request. Their reply was “Oh, we haven’t used it yet.”

Good. We have homegrown talent that can fill those jobs.

They should think about opening a fast food place. Maybe open it in Texas and call it Cowboys & Indians.

Be nice to see our colleges actually educating Americans.

+bonus if they teach them something useful.

I support this, but I wouldn’t be opposed to adding an incentive of companies getting something back if visa holder returns to home country properly at the end of visa term or when losing job.

Companies push for them to enter and need to help push them out. Industry and/or company limits need to be reduced by those they sponsored who haven’t left.

Our biggest problem with these visas is not recognizing that like illegals there is a huge problem getting them removed which is increasing with activist judges and leftists fighting the legal removal of illegals and visa holders who break rules for being here or too many laws.

Renewals must also pay the fee

How often do these visas need to get renewed? Yearly?

I'm just wondering when we should start seeing currently filled jobs out on the market. Seeing returns to Indian sender, and jobs coming up should be looked out for.

Companies will now have to pay 100,000, rather than 1,000, to bring an Indian tech worker into America.
I’m so hot right now. YAS!!!! About time Trump fight for us common men.

100% agree. The data science and analytics market has gotten so competitive because of jobs being outsourced to India.

It would probably lead to more offshoring though.

I hope Trump goes after offshoring jobs too. This has put a lot of Americans out of work in the O&G industry. Our local document control admin and project controller groups have been decimated by utilizing cheap labor in India and Columbia. It’s starting to affect our drafting departments also. Of course the major oil companies are pushing for this.

Yes and no. Their skills are usually lacking but they are also willing to work cheaply.

I'm probably not the first to point out that companies will now just move portions of their business into India or other non-fee countries.

So now instead of American engineers competing with Indians, the engineers won't even have a company in which to compete with them. That company's engineering branch will be in Canada or Kolkata.

Obviously I think most tech folks are good with that.

I do have some concern for how it all falls for healthcare, especially with H-1Bs who specialize medically. I feel like, at least locally, there's a fair amount of foreign folks in specialties like endocrinology because of the cost of a doctorate degree and everything that comes with that.

We hired 5 Indian guys years ago one network guy, one sys admin, one exchange and two desktop support guys. They didn't even make it 6 months before we fired all of them. They were worthless. Most of them lie about education, skills, and work history and don't know shite. They are no threat to any American that has any semblance of communication and IT skills/experience at least on the infrastructure side.

They have been a massive threat for precisely what you stated. They got hired. Which means Americans didn’t. They stayed there six months. It took that long to figure out they were worthless. After they were fired, guarantee they were replaced with new H1B Visa guys.
