re: Teachers say they were shot 'execution-style' with pellets during active shooter drill

This was around 7 or 8 years ago now, but we had an all day drill on one of our teacher workdays. A police officer would at a random time fire a blank either into your classroom if your door was unlocked or open or fire it right outside your door.
You had to barricade and lock your door as fast as possible and then buzz the office on what time you were able to get it done. They were evaluating our response time.
It was...fricked up.

What if they have a fire drill and during the drill someone ran around with hot coals throwing them at people?

Nobody takes safety drills seriously.
We're told from the time we're knee high, if we catch fire, Stop, drop and roll.
All I ever see is people flailing around and trying to tear clothes off.

I am sure it stung, but to be upset and outraged over

I'd say it did a little more than stung. Regardless of the actual amount of pain caused they have a right to be upset.

The bill has already passed the House, so McNamara said she hopes the Senate can amend the bill to address the issue. "The bill calls for active shooter training, but I want to make sure that it's clear ... that being a part of an active shooter drill, we do not need to be that realistic in shooting pellets at our teachers," she added.
I don’t believe this. Nope. If true, everyone responsible for leading the drill was drunk or wanting to retire with a bang.

Law enforcement loves playing war and using their toys. Shooting a person with a live round creates a lot of paperwork and bad press.
Shooting dogs doesn’t, but that’s not fun. I guess they thought they could get away with shooting foam projectiles at teachers. Unfortunately, there have been several instances of law enforcement not confronting schools shooters when real bullets are flying.
That’s the reason they hold these drills, to train using lessons learned from past tragedies.

It is possible to build an immunity to bullets by getting shot with pellets enough times

Not agree to walk into a room and crouch down with your back to the shooters.
Fight. Don't go out like a bitch.

Getting shot execution style means you are dead for real so i would rather just have a pellet that stings and learn from it than the real thing occur.
Solid logic.

Teacher should have pulled out their play pistols and made it interesting.
If anything, it shows they don’t be a victim. Train and arm yourself.

I read this and I’m not believing it. They really shot at teachers with airsoft pellet guns? And without warning?

It’s legit. A former coworker works for the Twin Lakes District (at another school) and there was a big move to keep it hush hush because the PD performing the drill went overboard.
FWIW, we do ALICE drills in Kentucky too and have had PD participate. But they’d never do some shite like that. They make it as realistic as possible without using blanks. Of course we’ve actually had multiple school shootings in the state, so we take it seriously.
