Her concern seemed to be more with difficulty in teaching in that environment along with not being told exactly who’s going to disinfect them.. legitimate questions to pose but as usual the wrong platform to ask

Instead of blaming public school teachers, blame the ridiculous phony bureaucracy. Go visit EBR school board and count how many people they have sitting in that office and figure out how much brainpower is actually being used versus their salaries. The problem starts at the top. Unfortunately for EBR, there is no end in sight. Warren Drake couldn’t steer that ship...few of any could.

It is a general observation. You work hard, cool. Many don’t. Some are just useless.
Don’t take offense to a generalized view of the profession.

Do you guys clean your desks and your offices after doing your jobs? Not understanding the hate for teachers.

I would think this is what janitorial staff should be doing. Or as one person suggested make the kids do it at the end of the day. Making a teacher clean a room full of cubicles is bullshite.

Here is a thought for everyone in general. If an ordinary person wanted to run for a school board position he/she can do so. The person doesn't need a high school diploma to run for a school board position. The person can have a second grade education and still run. This person sits on a school board and tells college educated teachers how to teach and how to maintain discipline in their classrooms. A person without an education can tell a college graduate how to perform their daily duties. I have a college degree but you won't find me sitting on some medical board telling doctors about the latest drug findings or how to operate. I'm not qualified to tell doctors how to perform their duties yet a person with no education can tell a certified teacher how to perform their duties? Thank God that uneducated Joe Blow can't sit on a medical board. Why can Joe Blow dictate to a teacher with multiple degrees how to perform their job?

For most of the country, you're not going to like the answer.

I'd be pissed because if the school district had 5 million dollars to use. They wasted it on that. There was probably much better ways for those funds to be allocated.

I would love any of these critics to stand in front of a classroom and teach 35 students at one time (5 class periods a day if you teach middle or high school), manage classroom behavior and limit distractions to keep a strict schedule, create daily/weekly lesson plans that meet state standards and submit them to the administration weekly for review as well as the parents via email, grade papers and enter grades into the computer system, pull morning/lunch/afternoon duty, break up fights between students, provide extra tutoring to students that need extra help, answer emails from parents that complain about everything, track down parents who aren't involved in anything, solve internet and/or device issues for students who can't get to their school work, council the 1-3 students that will inevitably cry during class, attend department and faculty meetings, update records and modify assignments for students that have individual education plans, fight to get funding for copies and classroom supplies which normally run out after the first 9 weeks so you'll end up spending 100s of dollars out of your tiny paycheck each school year to provide for the kids so they don't go without.
But, teachers do get a 25 minute lunch, and can sometimes get another teacher to watch their class so they can pee during the day. I guess that's a perk!
Anyone that wants to criticize teachers and thinks they are just lazy, I challenge you to volunteer at your local school and see with your own eyes just how lazy teachers aren't.
It is a thankless, low paying job with ever growing demands and expectations, not to mention your performance is based on your students performance, even though you might only see them 1 hour a day. Most people couldn't handle it for 1 week, let alone a whole school year.
If you've never done the job, just shut up and color.

quote:Teachers got it so hard. Sitting on their asses in an air conditioned building. Bet you none of those teachers complaining about how hard they got it could work 10+ hours out in the middle of no where working on an oil rig or doing pipe welding layin in the mud, out in freezing temps. Or having to be up on top of a building in the hot arse summer putting on a roof. These are the jobs that are building America and you don't see these professions proclaiming theirselves as heros.
If you've never done the job, just shut up and color.

Newsflash!
Oil rig workers...important
Roofers...important
Teachers...important

It’s because they went to school so they don’t have to do that. I’m sure the roofers love the job and really want to be doing it though

That's not what she said. What she said was she doesn't know how she is going to clean 28 to 32 desks BETWEEN each class. See, this is middle or high school and they get 5-7 minutes to switch classes. Its physically impossible to clean all of those desks and the plexiglass in the allotted time. She also said students wont be able to see the board, and they cant hear each other behind plexiglass while wearing masks, which makes it 10x harder to teach and learn.
If you actually watched the video instead of just reading the title, you might have gained more understanding rather than just saying the teacher doesn't want to clean the desks.
Imagine some dumbass in a suit making decisions that affect your job without really considering, or even giving a shite how it affects you,the person who actually does that job.

Don't worry about the idiots on his site who post things they think are popular to say because it will get them "likes" as if that's something that makes them better human beings.
It's popular on here to criticize government employees, school teachers, north Louisiana, mayors, minorities, and, of course, opposing schools. The idiots who chime in are also going for "likes".
None of them have any sensible basis for their contempt but repeat what they think the others want to hear. None of them have their own brains.
