If I wore a stocking on my head, every coach at my high school would have made a joke about it and rightfully so.

Everyone’s just assuming the coach knew about his mother

The news did a shitty job of reporting (go figure).. where’s the whole video? Why do they only show clips of it instead of the whole situation? Shitty ‘journalism’

I seriously doubt he had a legitimate concussion. I'd love to see the actual CT report of the impressions. ERs always put stuff like that on the discharge papers for legal purposes to CTA (I know, I was an ER nurse for years and dealt with stupid patients like this on a daily basis). These dumbasses want you to put certain wording down, so they can immediately take it to their lawyer when they leave the ER.

You are unstable if your reaction to a comment from someone is to throw a desk across a room. You really need to get into a religion or cross fit or meditation. You need help.

14 year old child gets made fun of about his appearance by a grown arse man in front of his peers and friends at the expense of his recently dead mother.

I would imagine he would have been pretty unstable.

Some of you are trying too hard to be a hard arse in this thread, and the lack of empathy is a bit disturbing.

Same as when I was in school but things are way different now
If it wasn’t allowed he should have told him to remove it not made a joke
Story sounds as if he was just trying to make a joke

Unless it’s a really shitty school they would know the kids mom died

The story does leave out a lot of information

It was just words until it wasn't. The coach used words. The kid made it physical by throwing a fricking desk at the coach.

What words could possibly be used to justify throwing a desk? We have a system in place to handle when somebody's words cross the line. They were not in the mean streets of Harlem.

Is throwing a desk aggravated battery or does it cross to attempted murder?

A little fear and consequence goes a long way. The lack of accountability these days is ridiculous. Teachers shouldn't have to worry about 'how far is too far' when defending themselves in their own damn classroom.

I would also bet that he had no idea about the kids mom when he said that and it was meant to put the kid in his place when he was being disrespectful.

The coach used words referencing the kids mom that recently died

*Saw him throw the desk

Story leaves a lot of info out than could easily change my mind but based on what is in the article I feel for the kid

The video seemed clear on this to me. It appeared that he picked it up and threw it as far as he could.

You get in the same amount of trouble for 1 punch as you do 100. Might as well take out all those years of frustration.

The kid was wearing a stocking on his head and the coach said quit wearing your momma's stockings on your head.

You make it seem like he used all these "words" about his mom.

Yet they have no recruits for '19, '20, or '21. Do they not have a football team?

Teachers need more support.
Another new tax or bond issue should fix this!

If only teachers got paid more, had smaller class sizes, newer books, more tech... we're simply not being taxed enough to support these teachers, schools, students, staff, administrators, administrators staff, administrators 2nd nieces uncles nephew twice removed...

They do. The coach is the puncher in the video.

We as a society seemed to have moved far passed "Sticks and stones"

Words CAN NEVER become a justifiable reason for violence. If /when that happens, society is fricked. We are already on that slippery slope.

What is to stop someone from simply sucker punching who ever they want, and then simply say that person was talking a bunch of stuff and deserved it.

We are dangerously close to this already and I can't believe it.
