They should just switch to counties anyway since they aren’t really part of LA anyway.

So when you went to med school in North Louisiana, did you tell everyone you were in Texas?

South LA people are such insecure figs with this line.

At least 5 or 6 of us from Lafayette Parish

Probably more than that.

There are probably 5-6 people from Vermilion parish, maybe more.

(Currently in Lafayette parish, born and raised in Vermilion)

Insecure would imply that people in South Louisiana feel that it is inferior to North Louisiana. I don't think anyone feels that way (even people from North Louisiana)

The number of guys I have met in Houston with no connection to LSU whatsoever that look at TD regularly is astounding.

Wasn’t there a certain south Louisiana mayor of a certain south Louisiana City that just traveled to a certain communist country to study economics?

The most prized posters are from Lafourche Parish where I reside, the home parish of Coach O. LOL

It means south Louisiana people are so insecure they have to be constantly validated so much that anything that isn't south Louisiana isn't Louisiana. Anything different than your way of life isn't authentic because it isn't yours.

Being unable to be comfortable with your own existence in the face of something different so much so that you have to discredit the authenticity of that other thing is pretty insecure.

It's just weird and I've never seen it in any other state. No one says San Antonio isn't Texas because it isn't Dallas or vice versa.

I have no idea what you're talking about and I don't judge how much I like a particular area based upon politics. Case in point, California is one of my favorite states, it is also full of people who I disagree with politically. I don't define myself by politics, and I don't define others by it either

Grew up in southern Rapides Parish in the 1950-60s but left my beloved town of Echo on Hwy 1 and eventually settled in south Louisiana, Lafourche Parish which is also God's country.

You don't think people from New York City feel like the rest of the state of New York is a completely different "thing"?

New Orleans is unique, the Acadiana area is unique, the rest of Louisiana (including Baton Rouge) is basically just like any other part of "The South".

Sure, but I doubt people say it isn't New York state.

Ah the classic south LA "it's not unique if it's not mine" insecurity.
