Free State of LP in the house. Moved there for law school, living next door to Churchills on Jefferson for a couple of years. Passed the LA and MS bar exams in short order after graduation and immediately got my country arse back out to the farm with a quickness.
In the absence of family (both mine and my wife's), I'd have moved my arse to Houston/Dallas upon graduation and used my IT background, law degree(s), and technical writing masters to do something--anything--somewhere other than this shithole we call a state here in Louisiana.
Actually worked out in California for a couple of years doing specialized public defender work on capital cases. That shite was fun/profitable. The group we were a part of brought in around $400K annually from the State of California--plus expenses--for 3 of us to handle the defense of one problematic defendant. We were charged with giving him an unassailable defense that would hold up through whatever appeal(s) came later.
We did our job, and, because our client had, technically, driven two folks to the desert, killed them, buried the bodies, all before coming home, the State of CA finally got a conviction to stand, and the client is now (properly) on death row. Dunno where all that came from. Short answer: Discovered OT while living in EBR, stayed with TD when I moved back to LP.
