And this here is exactly why Taylor Swift does so well.

Women of all ages love her.

This. 100% this.

I respect the hell out of her songwriting chops. Plus she plays the guitar, piano, and I believe the fiddle also. Girl is a talented musician.

The fact that she is the most popular “artist” shows how pathetic the current music industry is. Pure dreck.

Does that take into account the idiots who are forking over $1500+ for tickets?

P.T. Barnum was so right about "Fools and their money".

Edit: OH LOOK, downvoted, I think I found the idiots.

It's always funny when people say this about someone every decade.

You might wanna fact check this one, baw. He's sold out every arena in the U.S. and still going at it in Europe right now. And this is alone with no features.

No, but she’s the greatest of her time.

Hard to say.

20y ago and before there were 15-20 bands and performers that were mass marketed the same way as she is.

Nowadays people go off down individual genre rabbit holes instead of everyone hearing the same music on the radio. Most people stream their own phone stations on Pandora/Apple/Spotify etc.

She's kinda the only one when there used to be a lot more, so it makes sense she makes that much. She's got basically the entire pop market instead of a share of it with a bunch of others.

Add to that the price of everything, the fact that no one is debt-averse anymore and the number gets bigger.

My husband spent $400 on a vinyl from her live Lover tour in Paris. He's 43.

We are listening to her currently. People who dislike her haven't listened to her discography.

Currently we are on Exhile featuring the Bon Iver. It's soooo good.

I would love to know what you listen to. I have no dog in this fight and couldn't care less about Taylor Swift, but people pretending to be above other people's music is always comical to me.

Well, I’m a grown man so I listen to Outlaw Country on Sirius. Contrary to your point, how can any male with any modicum of self respect or testosterone listen to, admit listening to, prop up and support a Summer’s Eve commercial meant only for those who use the product?

People feed on being negative. It's not new to social media, but it has magnified it exponentially.

Someone else is successful, so they must suck, or the people helping them succeed suck.
Someone else is happy, but they didn't deserve to be so for reason X.
Someone else likes X as a hobby, but that's stupid. How could any self-serving male possibly enjoy X.

Is it just me or once we start spanning more than one year it shouldn’t be called the same tour? I grew up when bands or singers would have big tours playing 60+ concerts over the summer and then maybe add a separate fall/winter tour. And occasionally have a “world tour” where they’d play over big European cities and toss in a few dates somewhere like Australia or Asia.
