re: Tate and LSU enrollment and parking 3 years and a row - can't count.

Think twice if you are going to send your kids to LSU.
You're going to catch flack for that, but it's not wrong. The longest walk I had at NLU/ULM was from parking at Ewing, that was probably less than half the walk from some of the LSU lots.
LSU's student body has grown insanely large. Problems from such a large population can be avoided (or, at least, lessened) at places like Tech, Nichols, ULM, etc.

There are a ton more reasons why you shouldn’t send your kid to LSU…

I never struggled enough to find a parking spot so bad that it resulted in me being late to class at LSU.
1-2 more weeks there will be more parking, it always happens the first few weeks

this one. Bring back traditional admission standards and multiple problems solve themselves overnight

I am pretty sure you are an idiot who has no clue what is happening on campus or in Baton Rouge.
You referenced CATs when LSU runs the Tiger Trails bus system to pretty much every off campus apartment within a several mile radius. And the parking department offers private rides at later hours to students who don’t want to have to walk around at night

Parking has been an issue at LSU since the early 2000s
It has been an issue far longer than that…

Why has there been such wailing and gnashing of teeth over the traffic and parking this semester?
To be fair it is a disaster that’s getting worse every year. Enrollment continues to go up and number of spaces continues to go down.

This is not a Tate issue, this has been a problem for like 20 years
I often had to slow creep through the CEBA parking lot for spaces 30 years ago.

Ok... i bet parking was high on the President of the LSU System's list of things to do. I would think there is a director of some sort that is in charge of that

I guess area is still too problematic for parking garages. While robbery was a concern I think concerns used to be more about assaults on female students by someone taking advantage of cars being more isolated from being viewed during less busy times of the day and definitely at night.
If that basketball arena ever gets done they are going to have to add parking garages by it or safe passage for walkers and cyclists over or under Nicholson and the tracks or preferably both (the latter should happen regardless).
Security cameras, lighting, motion sensors, and sending out alerts have improved, but you still have to ability to respond quickly and to check on anyone loitering around which has been made more problematic based on some of the orientation week pictures and videos.
In the past outside of maybe some of the athletes black LSU students did not act or dress like the blacks north of campus or at Southern usually do. Now the non-student residents north of campus can hide amongst people that look, act, and dress like they do and also take advantage of the additional fear of a lawsuit for a black student being “targeted”.

I saw plenty of parking available in the commuter lot on the corner of Nicholson & Skip Bertman around noon today.

How much is a parking pass for the whole year?

My niece and several students that work in our building have not been able to make it to class because they cannot find parking.

This was known when I started at LSU back in 2011. Instead of bitching and complaining, I planned ahead and rented at a condo complex that was on the Tiger Trails route, rode the bus every day and saved money on parking passes to boot.
Y’all sound like Boomers with the “well back in my day… I planned ahead… blah blah blah”
These kids today have it way worse than what you had 15 years ago.

LSU can and should do better. That said, I find it odd that parents are complaining about this issue that was present even back in 2007.
The college student should be able to find solutions. Student government needs to get involved with some data.
Also…my first week of school, I got a ticket every day for parking in the wrong lot. They had apparently changed a lot from residential to commuter, and the map I printed out was outdated. I didn’t need my mom to complain. I emailed the parking office, walked down there with the tickets, and it was cleared.

UL has the big benefit of having a big arse free parking lot at Cajun field for commuting students. Actually finding parking on campus was a pain when I was there.

Parking lots will be empty in a couple weeks after kids stop going to class and are just smoking weed at home all day
Basically what I told my son, lol. Some of those kids aren’t college material, which is unfortunate because they can find good careers in the trades.

The fact that LSU has ONE parking garage on campus is criminal, and that garage isn’t even for commuter parking.
