Target must face shareholder lawsuit over Pride backlash, US judge rules

quote:

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Target has failed to persuade a judge in Florida to dismiss a lawsuit that accused the retailer of deceiving shareholders after its sales of LGBTQ-themed merchandise for Pride Month sparked a backlash and a customer boycott.

U.S. District Judge John Badalamenti in Fort Myers ruled that the plaintiffs had presented enough information for now to pursue claims that Target misled investors about its efforts to guard against social and political risks.

The lawsuit from investor Brian Craig claims that Target's board focused only on activist groups' calls for diversity, equity and inclusion measures and overlooked potential negative responses to the Pride campaign in May 2023.

Target did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.

America First Legal, the conservative group that filed the lawsuit last year, in a statement on Wednesday called the court ruling a "warning to publicly traded corporations' boards and management." The group said the risk of diversity, equity and inclusion programs and environmental, social, and governance initiatives "cannot be whitewashed with boilerplate language or ignored."

Good. Maybe this will set precedent and we can sue Potato Joe for the 4 years our country had to suffer thru his DEI bullshite.

The ripple effect from this alone will be huge, but nothing compared to if Target loses.

Precedent being the key word, and hopefully a huge ripple effect to eradicate DEI from everywhere. That does not make us, the people who have spoken, haters.

Disney will be shitting its pants. They already had a shareholder revolt that almost ousted Iger recently. With them practically destroying the Star Wars brand and their string of Marvel flops - almost all due to their harping on the cultural Marxist message - they would be ripe for a suit if this one wins. Hell, Bob Iger admitted publicly that they're guilty. His statement that Disney needed to get back to just entertaining people (while still pumping out the same propagandist dreck) should be a plaintiff attorney's dream.

Sorry, but I don't think Target misled anyone. If you've set foot in any Target within the last ten years, you would have known that place is basically a petry dish for trannie inclusion.

It's why I only go there if it's absolutely necessary. It hasn't been necessary for several years now.

Every day that Target loses customers is a great day

Member when Target started selling cockholsters for 'trans' kids? Yea that was a great idea and totally wouldn't alienate your base.

Target caters to women who think its upscale, when its basically Walmart with another label.

It’s nowhere near wal mart, it’s half the selection for double the price

Its roughly equal to Fred Meyer here, which is Walmart with a few more upscale bed and bath items.

With how young people turned out to the polls and who they voted for, id say its going to be more than just these next 4 years
