Target Apologizes For Children's Clown Halloween Costume Likened To Blackfa

This came through my email this morning from the socialist Huff Post.

quote:

“As a company, we know we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry,” Target said in a statement. “The costume is offensive and should never have been part of our assortment. It is no longer available for sale.” It is the latest optics headache for the U.S. retailer as it tries to right its ship after a stretch of poor sales. The company also faced criticism over its handling of products in its 2023 Pride Collection, and for changes to its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the wake of President Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

quote:

Some Black shoppers, who felt alienated after Target’s 2025 DEI rollbacks, expressed fresh disappointment on Monday. Sheletta Brundidge, a Minneapolis-area business leader, views the costume as an indirect result of the DEI decision. “You rolled back diversity,” she said, “so who’s in the room, now, to say ‘hey, this is wrong?’” Target acknowledged in its statement the costume was “especially hurtful for our Black guests, team members and partners.”

Brands need to tell the 1% bitching about this stuff to F off

I don't see how the costume or the video is offensive at all unless you are looking to be offended

Good Good are social media golf influencers. It's not out of line for their brand at all. It is also not offensive enough for the reaction it created.

I do agree the ad is lame, though.

Since when is it ok to push women down like that? Does that make you cool or something?

What does that have to do with a skit where they close-up focus on a deranged dude shoving a woman down?

That was never going to be well received. Hell, in the 90's there would've been some groups upset about that.

100%. The pushing a girl thing is a nothing burger, but that whole ad is just dumb. People got paid money to come up with that And even more people got paid to approve that direction and produce it

This one's legit funny because if the kid depicted was anything other than black, it wouldn't be offensive.

However, the most likely reason he IS black is DEI and the desire to not offend

With a noodle-armed golfer? Recreational outrage has gotten to be insufferable.

Yes it is. They’re the dude perfect of golf. Their entire model is to be the most vanilla and least offensive as possible.

Sorry you can’t be more outraged

I mean the ad is awful but the people up in arms about it probably aren't buying your driver anyway so why bother bending the knee to them?
