The preliminary investigation revealed that, at approximately 10:16 AM, Deputies responded to a residence on Lanier Creek Rd. in Loranger, in reference to a suicidal suspect. Shortly after the Deputies arrival on-scene, the suspect emerged from the residence brandishing a firearm. The suspect was shot by responding Deputies, and transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable but critical condition.

Lots lacking as far as information. I guess the "brandishing" part will be critical.

This happens fairly often, the last people you want to call in these situations would be cops

This is why the police need military grade weaponry. If they'd opened up on him with a 240, the taxpayers wouldn't be paying for medical bills right now.

OK so since you have the answers, who do you suggest calling once a mentally unstable person has a gun is threatening harm to themselves or someone else, maybe a social worker, etc.
Who do you recommend?

I bet you're a badass in real life, too. Obviously, you think that the police are infallible.

Cops should show up to every incident where someone is threatening to kill themselves and pop em once in the thigh or arse. Those assholes would learn not play with people's emotions and appreciate life real quick.

What’s lacking is your interpretation of how this should go. Should the police refuse to respond? Only respond once he shoots himself or someone else? Don’t fire when he points a gun at them in hopes that he is only joking? Shoot the gun out of his hand? Surround the area with fiftenn or twenty officers, evacuate all other residents and wait this guy out for two or three days (and repeat in a couple of weeks when he gets out of the crazy house)?

How would you handle this?
