George Jones was a different level of addict.
Remember when he was issued a DUI citation while driving his riding lawnmower on the street?

He got drunk at home but ran out of liquor. He told his wife he was going to the liquor store to buy some more booze so she hid his car keys.

So he fired up his old John Deere riding mower and headed out...

True story.

I am convinced that Reese Bobby's character (Ricky's dad) was based at least partially on George Jones

“He Stopped Loving Her Today” is the greatest country song - maybe greatest any kind of song - of all time.

So are Tracy Lawrence, Alan Jackson, and Clint Black (Whitley was already mentioned).

It's there homosexual, split personality, Liberal counterpart that fricked it up for everyone for 20 or so years.

I would not have gone see him in Tiger Stadium if it were free!

I’ve been a fan of the Bakersfield sound since hearing my dad play lots of MH when I was a wee tadpole. So for me Merle is the GOAT old school country musician.

Caught a Dwight Yoakam concert on a whim in 2019 and that dude does an outstanding live performance. Also part of the Bakersfield sound.

100% agree. Paycheck is well worthy of a mention here.

Cool fact, Paycheck used to play at Hells angels picnics but he would get too drunk to sing so they would guard him until the show happened.
