Here’s the non Boomer explanation of this
Guys are meeting random “girls” online or on dating apps. The “girl” asks them to move the convo to Snapchat. “Girl” sends nudes. Guy sends nudes. Then the scammer makes themselves known and says we’ll send the pics and vids of you jacking off to your friends and family if you don’t pay us money.

I know a 35 year old dude that got caught up in this. He was all methed up and fell for this exact scam. He paid the first time they demanded and then they came back asking for more. He refused to pay the 2nd time and they sent out the video. It was somehow through Facebook but I don't remember all the exact details.
He's dead now so I can't ask him.

The development and maturation of the prefrontal cortex (controls logic and emotion) occurs primarily during adolescence and is not fully developed until the age of 25 years. So yeah, most men over 25 wouldn’t fall for it but younger ones would. They are targeting the ones under 25 who aren’t thinking with their brains at the time.

I was a stupid horny 16/18 year old once too but even I would’ve been sketched out if some random “hot chick” I’ve never heard of asked me to beat off over the phone. No sane person asks that.

We had a lot more latitude to frick up back in the day. These days ruining someone's life is sport. I'm honestly so much more strict as a parent than I expected to be because of how treacherous this world is for young people. The pendulum is unstoppable and unpredictable. You have to teach perfection now. It's tough.

Something similar goes on in the desert. Co worker of mine got caught up in a situation where a scammer was sending him pics of dead bodies and chopped off heads. Claimed to be with cartel and they would kill his whole family if he didn’t pay.

I got a similar email a few years ago. The person claimed they had video of me jacking it to interracial midget porn and I had to pay money for them not to share it.
It scared me at first but then I realized it was just a lucky guess. I don't have a webcam.
