I love Disney but it is going to be insanely hot and Toy Story Land opens on June 30th so Hollywood Studios is going to be a shite-show. I am going this summer but only because there is a conference for work and the room and travel is paid for. I'll only go out into the heat and the parks in the evening, I can't do heat like that.

It'll be fine. A multi-billion dollar company doesn't maintain it's park's popularity by luck. Just be smart. Study up and pick the right parks on the right days. Time your fastpasses right and if you're on property, make sure you get some pool time in.

There may be a thread over there explaining it. There are a few guys who will be extremely helpful and you get less BS responses.

If you plan correctly, you'll already be ahead of 80% of the crowds even on busy days. If you just show up and expect to wing it you will be miserable like most of the respondents to this thread. Look up a touring plan online.

The heat is no joke though. To combat that, plan to hit the parks early at rope drop then head back to your resort at lunch. That's the hottest part of the day and usually when the park is the most crowded. Then head back to the park at 3ish.

Yeah....but people just suck. We just got back from a Disney cruise. I can't say enough about the service. From the stateroom host to the servers at dinner who knew our names and faces the first time we saw them (they took pictures as we got our boarding pass), to the guys cleaning up the deck as soon as a piece of paper hit the ground. They definitely put an effort to be better than other vacations....especially cruises.

But the fact is, other people suck and Disney's service can't really cover that. You put too many people close together and I start to hate life. From the people who blatantly steal your elevator (I did an ironman the day before and wasn't taking stairs...multiple times have families walk up as the doors open and take an elevator without even pressing a button while a crowd of people wait) to the old woman pushing you out of the way while you hold your kid up to watch Mickey dance. Glad my kid had a good time and would do it again for him. Would never do it for my personal enjoyment. I much prefer very low key places where I don't have to wait in line or save a chair around the pool to have any space.

Spent a day in Disney 2 years ago on July 3rd.

104 degrees.
So humid.

Hottest I've ever been.

Never again.

Disney is trashy.

You should take a cruise instead.

Dude, have you ever gone down alpine slides?

Swam in a waterfall? Jumped off into a clear pool?

How is that not better than standing in a line in the sweltering heat for a 2 minute ride?

Take your kids to both and see which one they will continually ask you to go back and do.

Are you doing any of the water parks at Universal or Disney? If not, I would do 3 days at Disney and 2 at Universal because there is more to do at Disney. Toy Story Land opens at the end of June at Disney's Hollywood Studios, so that park will be extremely busy in July. Were are you staying at Universal because only Hard Rock,
, and Royal Pacific offer express passes.

I was thinking of that as well. Probably better to do it that way. We are staying at Hard Rock
We went to Universal a couple years ago in July and stayed at Royal Pacific
It was very easy and enjoyable to do both parks with the express passes

Disney in the Spring. Disney in the Fall. Disney in the Winter.

NEVER Disney in the Summer.

You dun goofed. Imagine a park that people from around the world come to see, some with far different personal hygiene practices than Americans are used to. Now, imagine that you're packed in shoulder to shoulder with these people, there's a giant dead-eyed mouse staring at you, and you're in a steam room.

Enjoy!

The turkey legs are delicious, though.

Be the boss. Make the decision that will be the best for them in the long run and the best for your budget.

Kids also want to eat candy all the time if you’ll let them. It’s your job to be the adult

or the money you’ll spend on Disney you can find a lovely mountain resort and take your kids hiking and climbing

Yeah that’s what the kids will love.

When I was about 12, my parents overrode our objections and took us west instead of doing theme parks like the kids wanted. I'm glad they did. We went west every year after that. I never saw Disney, but I've been to most of the national parks.

It’s been said numerous times...

But what the frick are you thinking?? I was in Disney a few years ago in the summer. It was fricking awful. Never again. There’s no amount of Mickey!!! or OMG SO MAGICAL!!! that can combat those crowds and that heat.

Good luck. You will need it.

Oh frick that. I love Disney World. If it's my vote, we are going there or the beach every year.
