Why was the groom at an after-party?

Was someone else plowing his wife?

Reminds me of one we went to where the reception was to be in the same place the ceremony was, but there was nowhere to send the guests in between. So we all had to stand out of the way while they transitioned the room.

Maid of honor's speech was over an hour long. I left during it.

None really. I have been to many, many weddings in my day, and they’ve all been pretty classy. Some have been more subdued and not very fun, but still decently classy nonetheless. I have two odd memories that kind of stand out though:

One was my cousins wedding. I was a groomsman, and he invited a lot of his friends. We are all just good old southern baws so there was a lot of drinking. So they actually ran out of alcohol, and somebody brought in a daiquiri machine and they started making daiquiris. I thought that was so weird.

The second one was one that I was invited to on a Thursday. And the people getting married weren’t the classiest of people, so I went in expecting it to be kind of silly. It was actually at this sprawling mansion, and one of the classiest weddings I’ve ever been to. I was totally thrown for a loop there

Hold my beer.

Went to a wedding in Gonzalez for my then gf’s friend. The bride was 7 months pregnant and the groom was not the father. Groom also knew he wasn’t the father. The priest was wearing biker boots under his robe.

Reception was at some run down KC hall That had an interior of unpainted particle board. The meal was a giant pot of jambalaya being cooked in the back and stirred with a paddle. Meal served on a paper plate. Alcohol was a keg I. The corner that I had to help tap. Plastic cups were next to the keg. Music was someone’s iPod hooked up to some speakers.

I went to one where I was one of 2 guests wearing a suit and the other guy was like 90. Dude in front of me was wearing wranglers, a rodeo t-shite, roper boots, and a huge-arse belt buckle. The reception was at a VFW hall where the other side was the VFW bar that had about 10 day drunk vets chain smoking.

I don't judge too much as I know the girls family were dirt poor. I still had fun even though I was way overdressed and definitely out of place. Most of the "horror stories" I see here are the result of people not having any money which isn't a reason to criticize. The logistics/organization stuff shouldn't happen regardless of budget though.

Well, I was 16. I was at a friends house in a small neighborhood. A lot of the family lived in that section, so one of my friends relatives was getting married while I was there.

His relative was getting married across the street in his front yard, and my friend/his cousin was invited. Wasnt supposed to take long so I went. Baw was a good ole boy, came off like an even dumber version of Matthew McConaughey's character in Dallas buyers club Pre-HIV infection. Bride was so unremarkable, I dont remember seeing her. Well, apparently one of the other relatives couldn't be bothered to come outside down the street to see him get married.

And this highly offended the guy, who was already about 12 natural lights into his ice chest in the reception area. long story short. It was apparently postponed for a few hours after the baw went to the relative's house. Forced his way inside to fight. The fight ended up in the street and an F150 was damaged.

ETA

I somehow feel that after all these years that have passed, the relative who wanted to stay inside and watch tv was probably right. I highly doubt that marriage is still a thing.

The funnest wedding I ever went to would be considered the trashiest by OT standards.

Years ago, I had a cousin get married in Gibson. My uncle's farm was right on the banks of Bayou Black. They had the ceremony at the Catholic Church and the reception was in my uncle's side yard or small pasture. It was in the Fall and it was one of those glorious South Louisiana Fall days of bright sunshine, temps around 70, and light breeze. They had cans of beer and soft drinks iced down in metal tubs, a roast pig, fried chicken and fish. There was a Cajun band with accordion and fiddle. The Cajun dancing went on into the night.

Holy shite how did I forget about my 2nd cousin's wedding at the KC Hall in Basile, Louisiana. LMAO. He presented his bride with a shotgun during the reception.

Wow, I've been to some trashy weddings

I heard tell of a bride who wanted a military wedding with the summer white dress uniforms, the sword arch, etc., so she had one. Plot twist: No one was in the military.

Oh my god I'm dying because I just called my mom and she corrected my memory of the story.

The woman was not naked - she had a top on. She was just bottomless.

And she wasn't the bride's sister. She was someone's random INTERNET DATE

How little self awareness do you have to have to do this?!?!?

1) Plantation in Chalmette. The wedding was not bad actually, very pretty. The groom worked at a brewing company, so they had two kegs, and for wine, a bunch of those mini bottles you see at CVS. P.S. It was the LSU/Bama game. My wife was in the wedding, and I would not have had a wife if I missed it.

2) House in Belle Chasse. The wedding was fine, but the grooms wore camouflage vests and the boutonnieres were in a pink shotgun shell. There was a sucker punch when an ex of one of the bride's friends saw her talking to someone else.

Bonus: Not me, but my roommate in college went to a wedding where the brother of the groom was so drunk by the time the ceremony started, he was already taking clothes of. He ended up getting his arse kicked by the dad of the bride, which turned into a family free for all. The poor bride cried all of her makeup off.

It was horrible. We had stepped outside to smoke a cigar and to go back in, we would have had to walk in front of where she was speaking. So we figured we'd wait it out, but AN HOUR LATER we were still stuck outside so we just walked to the car and went home instead.

While the wedding was nice, I was in a wedding once where one of the bridesmaids, who was married at the time, slept with a guy the night before the wedding, and a different guy the night of the wedding. Her husband went back to the hotel room both nights to put the kids to bed.

The wedding I went to was pretty damn nice. Both families came from money but the reception took a turn for the worst. They could not locate the groom for like 40 minutes so we all are looking around for him. Me, the bride, and others found him in this closet with the mother in law straddling him good. Things got ugly in a hurry. There was a fight between groom and brides family. The grooms mom called the brides mom a whore and said that she probably raised her daughter to be a whore.

Come to find out later, the bride got railed by her ex the morning of the wedding.

I felt bad for no one. Not sure I’ll see shite like that again. I did enjoy the food and drinks. So much money was pissed away that night between the reception and damage

Most weddings I've been to that were out of town and the majority of people were traveling there the wedding party provided some sort of shuttle service.

How much should a wedding cost for you to sign off on it? Like the Op's party may have spent 10K on the wedding, but think it should have been 20k to have a closer to parking/ reception venue option.

I'm thinking of grabbing a mansion off Airbnb for a couple days, which would be cheaper than renting a church then a reception place for just a few hours.

Cases of craft beer on ice to grab and go, cases of wine to grab and go, no bartenders needed, just bussers. Hire a young chef to create a single buffet style meal Option, no waiters just bussers.

What's wrong with this place?

If we ever decide to actually go through with marriage, I want to rent a house in Sonoma and just do the whole deal there.

Get him to sign up at TD. Sometimes we need more posters around like the subjects in these stories.
