Why are you so wound up with how people spend their money?

At least 75% of the people who came in were from out of state with quite a few being from out of the country.
Every hotel room in the metro region was sold out of three nights.

Did they each get a hotel room? There was more than one person to a room. Do you really believe that a Mom with let's say 2 daughters spent almost 4 grand in 3 days?

Someone laughed at the idea of Swifties buying art. I saw lots of pictures of those artist around Jackson Square with Taylor stuff they had painted.

You call that art?

Not my problem he cant read. The guy HE was responding to got the figure from the article. It literally says

quote:

Greater New Orleans says nearly 200,000 concert tickets were sold for the three-night concert series, with each fan averaging around $1,300 spent on lodging, food, merchandise and other expenses, per a U.S. Travel Association report.

Because when a large part of the population is irresponsible it becomes annoying, that's why.

It's really more of a lack of self-control thing and yes, it irks me.

Every day mofos are complaining about inflation, low raises, and even healthcare yet the same people are dropping a couple K on concert. Let me repeat, a concert. Its not even tangible. If you are going to say "its memories" please take a step back and think about that. In 5 years most will wish they didnt drop a dime on that concert because in reality it meant nothing. Poof

If this is someone's vacation, I could understand.

The way I am reading this is that every time that chick comes near big cities chicks from 8 - 58 flock to go see her.

You mean like when people pay $75,000 for an SUV that gets < 20 miles per gal. and then line them up everyday idling them so they can run their AC while they wait to pick up their kids from school - and then complain about the price of gas?

Or when people pay $80,000 for a full sized pickup just so they can haul their 280 lb lard arse 30-50 miles back and forth to the office every day - and then complain about the price of gas?

Or when people pay $750,000 for a 4 bedroom, 5 bath 3,000 sq. ft. house when they only have 2 kids, and 1,500 sq. ft. would do just as well?

You think a couple grand for a weekend with your daughter in New Orleans is out of line?

75K meals, and she donates in every city she stops in.

Also did $8M to NC hurricane relief.

People who complain about donations are weird.

She does this anonymously too, it's the organizations that share the info.

Excited to contribute to the Indy economy this Saturday!

These are the same people who have no problem spending money on bowl games across the country, travel, lodging, food, tailgating......for a stupid game that means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Kind of funny when you think about it.

Sorry, just not buying it. No doubt a lot of money was spent but I believe the 1300 figure is over inflated.

The $500 million “economic impact “!includes multipliers but the city was packed with people spending money.

It was safe. The knuckleheads took the weekend off. 12 hour NOPD shifts help.

This city (minus Entergy) does big events better than anywhere else. With all this issues this city has, it was good to be reminded of our skill this weekend.

The timeline for the Superdome is ticking. Within the next decade or 15 years, New Orleans and the State are going to have to build a new facility. There is only so many times one can upgrade a 65+ year old building with terrible surrounding infrastructure.

Have you been in Dome last couple of months?

The renovations are amazing.

To be honest because I've grown up in a life of literal finance, I often chuckle at the thought of each of the items you mention. All flash, minimal cash.

I see so many people fall into the above traps I've come to the point where I don't even feel bad anymore if they default on loans, lose their job, can't pay for education because they would rather spend it on Taylor Swift or a house they have no business in. The reason for the cruelty is this is the only way uneducated people will learn is by suffering. It is what it is.

Everyone wants to believe we are all equal. We are not all equal, we will never all be equal.

That is not life and it's not realistic to even think about. Some were born into great families some were not. Some worked their arse off the create great success, some squandered it.

I think that spending a couple of thousand on 2 - 3 hours of a concert sends the message that 2 - 3 K don't matter.

I want my children to understand that it all matters. You can have, but you have to be reasonable and have no debt before you can go galivanting around like you are Puffy pre 2004.
