You seem to think Sweden isn’t doing anything. They gave recommended restrictions on gathering sizes and other social interactions. They’re not just “business as usual “
The difference is that Swedes trust their government way more than we do, so they follow the recommendations. No need for lockdowns.
Here, people will gather for Mardi Gras, spring break and church just to tell the government to go to hell.
This. My company office is based in Sweden, and they ARE on lockdown. Friday they moved to a four day work week, with 6 hours per day working, for all companies in Sweden. The govt is subsidizing that difference.
Everyone else has been working from home for two weeks now, and schools have been closed for two as well.

Looking at that site it looks like Sweden has more deaths per capita and higher rate of case growth than we do.

Which I would think is generally going to be true for awhile if you're trying a measured herd immunity strategy. I don't think they've gone balls to wall like the UK was contemplating though.
We will see what the score is at the end if they keep doing this. That score would necessarily include economic impact.

Per capita, Sweden, has about half the Covid-19 cases as neighboring Norway and Denmark
It's always interesting to dig into the data.
Cases per million population:
Sweden - 638
Norway - 1,018
Denmark - 704
But - tests per million population:
Sweden - 3,654
Norway - 19,528
Denmark - 7,055
Sweden is testing a lot less than the other two, especially Norway.
Most importantly:
Deaths per million population
Sweden - 37
Norway - 11
Denmark - 28
The Sweden narrative seems to be everywhere and is pretty lame. They just aren't testing as much. It's very early days so it WILL be interesting to see where this goes, but for now they have the highest death rate.

I work with a dude from Sweden and he says it's a horrible place. He hates it. It unbearably cold. According to him, the people live in a socialist environment and for so long that they learn'ed to complete depend on the government and not on each other. A weird dynamic from this has occurred where they don't even really speak to each other because the value of a relationship or network has gone away.
No reason to get to know other because you don't need the value of others, plus again, it's too cold to talk.
That's exactly how he's described it to me. And he's an introvert, a liberal, and I suspect strongly suspect he's gay.
That's the only Swedish guy i know. That's all I have to add to this converation. I've been trying to get a picture of his sister or mother but have so far been unsuccessful

Looks to me like Sweden said "Eff it" and are willing to accept slighty higher short-term infection and mortality rates to just get it over with.
Way less impact on the economy plus a higher herd immunity in exchange for a few extra deaths.

Sweden has the following socialist elements: Universal healthcare, free tuition (with stricter admission standards that the US), and strong paid vacation laws.
Sweden has the following non-socialist elements:
Privatized social security (partially)
Pure school choice (voucher system)
Low corporate taxes
High taxes on the poor (VAT)
It is likely more free market than the US.

Only metric that really matters is deaths per million. I do not care about “testing results” because there is so much variance in prevalence of testing from country to country.
Testing is helpful for the researchers that want to study this one day and understand the actual death rate. Testing that isn’t inclusive of asymptomatic people is useless in understanding actual viral spread.

Are they afraid the Swedish plan may expose how much of a waste the lock downs may have been on other countries?
yes they are and yes it is doing just that
the virus is real, the contagious nature of it is real, but the amount of deaths and the world wide shutdown is all BS in that its not helping at all to lock yourself in the house and ruin your countries economy

What does their testing look like compared to Norway and Denmark?
Edit: I see that was answered above. As I suspected.

Sweden also has MASSIVE government funding for artists/scholars/scientists.
