I don’t recall seeing one in a long time.

This thread makes me want one, but I’d need to rig it for more leg room

Former racer Bobby Unser abused rental cars so unmercifully, he was banned by a couple of agencies.

Friend had one in early 90's and it was a decent car for a guy 18-21. That damn thing was loud as hell inside on the highway though could barely hear the other person or the radio.

If you're a real baller you can get you a barbie benz jeep

I saw one parked in the CBD a few weeks ago and almost crashed doing a double take.

Seriously? Damn, that sounds awesome

If you are going to engine swap a Sami then use a Suzuki 16v 1.6. Then if you want a real death machine throw on something like a 54mm turbo for over 250hp. Or just put a 71mm on it and pump out 400+ hp, your kid would love that... for about 15 minutes.

I had one back in the 90's and absolutely loved it. We were getting pounded with snow and I was getting tired of putting chains on my old pickup every other day just to get up and down a few hills on the way to work. Drove by a car dealer and setting on top of this giant snow pile was a Samauri. Pulled in and took it home. It would literally go anywhere. I never felt like it was going to roll over as long as I stayed within the speed limits, but heck, it would hardly exceed the speed limit. The one thing that was a little scary was wind gusts. They would come out of nowhere and shove you across the lane. A little unnerving at first but I like a bit of excitement. I'll never forgot driving to a football game with my buddy when a gust hit us and he screamed like a little girl. LOL! I make fun of him to this day.
The only criticism I have is the soft cover on the spare. Had a flat one time and found out someone had inserted a knife blade through the cover and the tire. Two things I've learned are people are pigs and a$$e$.

One of my best friends had one for years. In low 4x4, it would creep along slowly while idling. We would take it out and find old trails through the Ozarks, put it in low, then climb up and sit on the top and steer it with our feet while we drank beer and smoked the devils lettuce. Good times.

Have a friend in SE New Mexico who has one turned into a quail hunting buggy and its very nice....he has about $20K in it but it is very sharp and does what he asks of it.....there is another guy in the area with one that he uses simply to frick around on oil field roads and it is tougher than shoe leather.....I have seen that one flying 6 feet in the air over a good 15-20 feet and landing so hard you'd think it was going to fall apart and it does it over and over and over again with no discernible damage. Great, fun little vehicle.
