There was a shooting early this morning in the L'anse M'egre community south of Mamou. A homeowner called in a suspected burglary; sheriff's deputy was apparently in the area and was confronted and attacked. The deputy was injured but shot and killed the assailant.

This is the same guy who stole a backhoe and tried to steal an ATM from a local bank almost two years ago. Why wasn't this guy in jail?

Upstanding citizen gets shot

Your title is misleading. Possible burglar and Police Officer involved in physical confrontation. Suspect killed.
There you go.

You should also mention that he was about to sign up at LSUE for the fall semester.

Scoop= at 4 am a woman heard suspicious noises and called sheriff department..deputy dispatched and confronted the young man..physical altercation ensued and deputy shot and killed the young man. Deputy is hospitalized with serious injuries.
I know the young mans family very well..parents are good people, had family in law enforcement, my wife taught his mom and him..
He seemed to take a turn opposite of most young men that age, he got worse the older he got. Used to be a very pleasant and polite young man..then things went south.
Sometimes, no matter what you do, some children will not turn out the way you raised them. This was certainly the case with the young man.

I heard the same thing from someone I work with who went to high school with him. Seems his family sold most of what they had to keep him out of jail for the bank fiasco.

Probably would have been better off letting him sit there and think about turning his life around.

There you go. Hate seeing that happen to people who you are invested in.

Influx of drugs in the southern parishes in the mid-90's changed a lot of so-called quaint little towns where you could always leave your doors unlocked, but not anymore.

All of the BR SJW's (The usual) are posting about more police brutality. Nevermind this kid shot at police once.

Justified.

These liberal SJW and horrendous mayor want a lawless society. Controlled anarchy.

His FB is full of Dindunuffin stories and cop blaming. Of course let's let the whole story come out before making judgments but cmon man it wasn't his first run in with the popo.

An SJW on my facebook is losing it over this guy getting shot. She's probably posted 10 statuses about it today, talking about what a great, loving guy he was. She neglects to mention that he had a charge for shooting an assault rifle at a police car after he was caught with the stolen ATM a few years ago
