He lives in Mamou bruh. You can find any mode of transportation there, from horse and buggies to rip sticks. The motorized chairs were pretty popular for a while too, I'm told.

I am from Mamou. I know the family of the young man. Story is, he plea bargained for reduce charges. Received 5 years suspended and 5 years probation. Weapons charges were dropped. After his release, he began a concrete company and appeared to be going down the right path. He was a well liked young man by both white and black. His family is'well known and respected in the community.
Family claims he and a girl were out on 4 wheelers spotting frogs. Lady called to report disturbances at odd hour. Deputy was in area and responded.
Have heard suspect and deputy Knew each other and were seeing same girl. Do not know if this is true.
Altercation occurred. No weapons on suspects. Hear suspect was shot multiple times in back.
The girl with suspect is not girlfriend in question, but a friend.
This one has to play out. I have questions and mixed feelings.
I have a brother who spent his life in law enforcement and am pro blue. I have doubts o this one.
All I know is a 27 year old man is dead. I lost my son at 27. My prayers are with the young man, his family, and also for the officer involved. Terrible tragedy. No winners in this one.

Was there a body cam or dash cam? Was there actually any kind of burglary or was it just somebody scared?

Highly doubtful. The Sheriff's Office barely has enough money to pay one or two deputies per shift to patrol the parish.

Boy, that Pen Point "News" article has a lot of detail in it. Should be easy to collaborate that story, or prove it's a bunch of horse hockey.
I mean, really? A guy who has previously (allegedly) shot at cops and stole an ATM didn't get into an altercation with a cop at 4 AM? He just complied 100% and got shot in the back? Come on, now.
I don't know where this guy lived, but it's not like this was right outside of town. They were out there in the country. Not many people live out there; it's all rice and crawfish fields where this occurred. And unless the GF showed up later, there's no way they were at her house, since she is reportedly from Church Point.

Exactly ...a new article is stating that after confronting them he ordered the guy to lie down on his stomach and then he shot him 4 times in the back. If only the 3 of them were present, who is telling people what happened? the girl in jail?
