Suspect arrested in South Carolina mall shooting that left 14 injured

Fourteen people were injured during the shooting at Columbiana Centre, Holbrook said in a news release Saturday. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 73.

I continue to be confused by these shootings.
Dude A sees Dude B with who he has a pre-existing conflict. Or Dude A has a conflict with Dude B in the moment.
Dude A then pulls out a firearm and shoots wildly into a crowd of people injuring and killing a whole bunch of people completely unrelated to the original conflict.
Dude A is then locked up indefinitely. Dude B walks away without a scratch.
If I were to have an issue with someone to the point I wish to shoot and kill them. I am going to shoot and kill THAT PERSON. Not shoot a whole bunch of unrelated people. And I am certainly not going to do it in a location with hundreds of witnesses and cameras. Like a mall or Bourbon Street.
These idiots have actually overcome the human desire for self preservation. Which is generally considered our driving force.
