I had no idea a grain elevator was a petrochemical project. Weird!

Heal from what? Self inflicted wounds since that POS LBJ was President. That SOB has been dead for decades, yet he still has power of poor whites and blacks. Preserve and build a brighter future is AKA liberal horse shite spoken by people getting palms greased on the side that don’t give two fricks about a supposed community.

This is what scares people, and it happened here. A lot of people died in this grain elevator incident, and it had lasting repercussions.

bullshite. You're making shite up. Each parish, when a new business comes in, makes that company sign an agreement that a certain percentage will be hired from the area.

Only because of evil industry and their big facilities. If they would just leave St James and St John Parish, things would be much different. Those people would be swimming in prosperity.

I never said that, but it was a pretty big deal back then, and it wasn't 60 years ago. I actually think that It would have helped the area so there's that also. How about an explosion that happened last year. LINK.
Safer yes after said incident from earlier, but still with risks.

Isn’t there a high school practically across the street from a refinery? I’m not sure what a grain facility on the river is going to do.

Grain dust is a pollutant and has a tendency to cause explosions. Supposedly this new plant would have had newly developed controls to prevent that, but no one really trusts it.

Although that is true. This was the bigger issue

We need these projects in Louisiana to lower prices by producing within instead of importing. A grain facility? Highly doubt that would do any harm to anyone and would employ some people.

I work for an infra company that develops these projects along MS River. Can't stand the people who try to shut them down. The NIMBYs. They are in part responsible for inflation. The ones who shut down new housing, shut down big projects, all that does is decrease supply and increase prices. They're too stupid to realize this.

It's so backwards today.

Placing this plant in a 90%+ White town would get 0 flack and pass permitting with flying colors.

Place a plant in a 90%+ Black town, and it is extremely hard to pass permitting.

How this isn't racist is beyond me. It's incredibly racist against white people.

What was the percentage in this deal, and in what geographical area?

They are impacting wetlands.
You have to get the blessing from at least 7 agencies addressing environmental concerns and all sorts of other crap. NOAA is even involved and soon the new European regulations.
