As I expected, the thread has worked hard to convince you to get a car and just drive.
My suggestion is a hybrid approach. Get a sprinter van. Something that you can pack up with all of your things you need for weeks and weeks at a time, still has a queen bed and small kitchen to boondock occasionally for 1 or 2 nights, and it's very capable to drive anywhere. Head out on month long trips with 80% plans to spend in hotels and cabins, and 20% in the van.

I always though Smokey the Bear was made up tor the forest fire stories, while traveling the back roads of NM I found the grave site in a one stoplight town, he was real and rescued during a forest fire and lived with the ranger that found him, then lived out his life in the national zoo in DC.

For reference $250k is 1,660 nights in a hotel for $150/night. That’s a pretty compelling argument.

FWIW, you don’t just lose $250k forever, the unit depreciates but you can sell it for some lower amount in the future and you traded that loss in value plus the maintenance during ownership for the benefits it provided over the hotel alternative.
There’s a lot of benefits, comforts, etc. with being able to travel with your entire apartment rather than only what you can stuff into a suitcase and drag into a hotel every night. That said, no one ever claimed rv ownership is cheaper than the hotel alternative, you’re paying for those conveniences, flexibility, etc.
It should be noted that these benefits can also be had at a much cheaper cost with travel trailers and a truck that doubles as a daily driver instead of an RV.

Depending in the unit, depreciation can be minimal.
Renegade's on Class 8 truck chassis' do very well.

I put a camper on the truck and go. Stay in a hotel once or twice a week

And if this is possible instead of selling your house rent it out on a yearly lease. The rent should pay a monthly payment for the vehicle, and after a year you can decide if it's the life you want. If not you have your house to return to.

I don't have much input on class but just a heads up, lots of state and national parks have limits on length for RVs. So if you plan to stay at those places be aware. You'll either have to park offsite or away from the nicer areas.

length limit generally driven by the 1950's period when many of the western camp grounds were built. A 30 footer car/trailer was what was used.
That said our 30 foot motor home/toad could fit most places when the toad was disconnected

It is almost impossible to find a camp site in a national or state park which can accommodate an RV much more than about 30-35 feet long. That is the length from bumper to bumper. Ours is 36 feet long from bumper to bumper. I always claim its 30 feet long when making reservations and have never had anyone measure it or found a space that would not accommodate it even though the reservation site said 30 would be the maximum. That said you gotta be prepared to find that they ain't kidding.
Most parks also have some length restrictions or otherwise restrict what kind if any toad (towed vehicle) you can have at your site. If you are flat towing (4 wheels down) this is usually not an issue but if you have a dolly many parks will not allow it to be kept at the site. Many will also not allow you to reconnect your toad's transmission in the park..because people will be doing all manner of shite under the toad claiming they are connecting the transmission. Most parks limit or ban maintenance being done in the park.
There are also MANY RV parks with age restrictions on campers. Most nice RV parks have about a 10 year or so age restriction. Almost all RV parks adjacent to national parks and other points of interest have age restrictions. Again, I always lie about it and have never had an issue. Our Class C is a 2006 model and looks identical to a 2022 model. I always claim its 8 years old. Have never been turned down anywhere other than a coupld of luxury class A resorts and that was because its a class C...can't hide that LOL.

I love mine... it's a bad mf'r! I would rather drive this thing than a car on a road trip. So easy to drive.

Never understood this stupid rule. So somebody can't bring in their 12 year old Prevost that's still worth $500k but some dude can bring a 5 year old Class A shitbox they bought for $50k? Ridiculous.

You just send them a pic...
They'll let you in.
Good rule, usually.
