LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Sulphur man has been arrested for 3rd offense DWI after striking a guardrail on the I-210 bridge, according to Louisiana State Police.

quote:

When troopers spoke to Kratzer they say it was obvious that he was impaired. Kratzer was then placed under arrest for careless operation and 3rd offense DWI, which is based on the number of times Kratzer has been convicted of DWI in the last ten years.

Kratzer was released to a local hospital for treatment.

State Police say that their records show that Kratzer has been arrested for DWI ten times since 1996

SFP must be his attorney

I had just posted this in the other DUI thread. Baw is younger than me and has 10 DUIs. That's hard to believe.

I am guessing he is a bad driver even when sober.

I went to Sulphur and had a teacher in middle school with last name of kratzer. I wonder if this is his son.

How long until this POS kills someone? There is no reason on earth why he should not be in prison. I know the SJW crowd would be hooting that it is a disease and he needs help, but this is beyond comprehension.

At this point, he's not bad at it. He's just not good.

A person who witnessed the crash stopped to help and saw that Kratzer was unresponsive. The witness gave Kratzer CPR until medical personnel arrived.

So he could have died?

He was just functionally checking those new guardrails to see if they would keep someone from going over the side. I guess they do work.

waht's hard to believe is that LA seemingly doesn't give the slightest shite about DUIs by still letting people drive.

Over a decade ago I got a DUI (first and only) in GA and received the mandatory minimum punishment which consisted of:

-24 hours jail time (not a puny drunk tank holding cell..naked with only a jumpsuit on back in genpop with actual criminals)
-suspended license 6 months
-victim impact panel
-defensive driving course
-heavy fines
-obviously increased insurance but that's more a byproduct rather than an actual handed down penalty

In GA a second offense dui ramps up the jail time to a few days and a longer suspended license adn a 3rd is even more so. If boggles my mind that someone is even out free and on the road in LA with that many DUIs. From all the posts on here over the years it seems like LA just slaps you on the wrist and released you back into a car and hopes you won't do it again.
