Buy a cheap well-fitting one from Macy's or JC Penney. You can try a thrift store but it might be washed out. Can probably get away for $200-250 if you don't need too much tailoring.

Black suit smh

If you can get away with a tux do that instead

Yeah JAB has some huge markdowns. OP would do himself a favor buying a couple while they are cheap.

I agree with the others...I would not waste any more time thinking about this and would hit Joseph A Banks without another thought. They are perfectly suited for this very scenario.

I have long made fun of JAB, but they may in fact be made for this moment.

Just get it there and get the other suits that come with it in whatever color you want. I did the same a couple of years ago for events where I know I'll be fricked up like new years eve.

So basically a “I act too good for it because I never go anywhere requiring a suit, but now that I do I’m happy to have it” scenario?

Spot on

I'm an engineer, I wear a suit 4x a month. Have 2 ludlow from J Crew and 1 Hickey Freeman, nothing crazy. More than enough for my needs.

If you have a Belk near you, you can get a decent suit at a reasonable price.

OP, Combatant Gentleman makes suits for perhaps less than JAB

But your best bet is to invite your buddy here so people can tell him how much he'll regret having black suits in his wedding

Every time I pop in these threads and I see a recommendation for Jos A Bank I die more inside each time.
