My grandfather was a successful haberdasher and his view was cuffs or no cuffs depended on height as it changes the look of the suit. Over 6' you always cuff. Under 6' you never cuff. If you're under 6' and you cuff it makes your legs look shorter and the opposite if you're taller than 6" (too long). There's a balance between the trousers and jacket that you have to find.

He also hated pleats.

No cuffs with shoes with laces and Cuffs for Slip on, Kiltie/Tassle loafer style

Conclusion to Pants With Cuffs

Cuffs are an indicator of refined style when worn properly. Although they do add marginal cost to a pair of pants, they add a je ne sais quoi to otherwise standard slacks.

Cuffs are considered permanent male fashion not because of their rich heritage in Regency-era England, but because the wearer has literally gone the extra inch to stand out with style.

Pleats. Cuffs

No pleats. No cuffs.

Cuffs on my suits that have more of a "relaxed fit" in the pants legs; no cuffs on my suits with the "skinnier" legs of the pants.

Cuffs are a great place to keep my lint collection.

My personal haberdasher approves.

My one suit is no cuffs. It will probably be out of style before I wear it again though.

This is solid. Cuffed suit trousers are a timeless, classic look, in my estimation. Nothing wrong with non-cuffs, and I wear both.

I've heard that cuffs were originally there to hold cigar ashes. That may help determine your needs.

Keep it old school and classic... cuffs, pleats and suspenders. Keep your slim fit skinny soy boy hipster fashion show of the week suit bullshite.

Remember that Soprano's episode where Tony was in one of his psych sessions and found a tooth in the cuff of his pants? He had been curb stomping some guy earlier in the day.

Is it 1950? If so you should go with cuffs.

No cuffs for suits. I have a couple of slacks that have cuffs when I wear a blazer.

As I think about it this is where I fall.

I can't think of a suit that I own that has cuffs, but I do have some stand alone slacks that have cuffs that I wear with a button down and blazer.
